Resorts World Manila to get Okura hotel in 2018

Japan’s Hotel Okura Co Ltd is to open a hotel unit in Resorts World Manila casino resort in the Philippine capital. The opening of the 191-room Hotel Okura Manila (pictured in an artist’s rendering) is scheduled for next year.

Hotel Okura said in a press release issued earlier this month it had entered into an agreement with Travellers International Hotel Group Inc – the developer and promoter of Resorts World Manila – “to manage Hotel Okura Manila, which will open in Manila, Philippines in 2018”.

Travellers International is a joint venture between Philippine-based Alliance Global Group Inc and Hong Kong-listed Genting Hong Kong Ltd, the latter controlled by Malaysian conglomerate Genting Bhd.

“As Hotel Okura’s first hotel to open in the Philippines, we will leverage the group’s expertise in traditional Japanese hospitality to make Hotel Okura Manila a much-beloved hotel among both local and foreign visitors,” said Toshihiro Ogita, president of Tokyo-based Hotel Okura Co, in a statement included in the press release.

A report by Japan’s Kyodo News stated Hotel Okura Manila would have 11 floors and was scheduled for completion in the autumn of 2018.

Travellers International had previously announced it planned to introduce three new hotel brands to Resorts World Manila as part of the property’s phase three expansion project. “The phase three expansion will have three international luxury hotels including Hilton and Sheraton, adding approximately 940 rooms,” the firm said in a press release in November.

HOTEL OKURA MANILA BAYSHORE [OPENING 2020]

The hotel will be part of Bayshore City Resorts World, a large-scale integrated resort, which will be the last of four multibillion-dollar private-sector casinos licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation to create a gaming zone. Called Entertainment City, the zone will be located on Manila Bay in the City of Parañaque, Metro Manila. Bayshore City Resorts World will also have an opera house, an upscale commercial complex, condominiums, cinemas and convention facilities. It is only three kilometers (4.8 miles) from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and five kilometers (8 miles) from the City of Makati, the country’s main business district. The prime location positions the new Okura property as an ideal base for both leisure and business travelers.

The hotel’s plans include 380 rooms in a 13-story building that will occupy 38,000 square meters (409,000 square feet). It will offer state-of-the-art amenities and authentic Japanese hospitality. by NNA/KYODO | The Japan Times | Wednesday | Dec 27, 2017

MANILA – Japan’s Hotel Okura Co. will open its first luxury hotel in the Philippines next year as part of efforts to expand overseas, capitalizing on growing numbers of travelers to the Southeast Asian country.

This is a bit confusing. Ito na ba yung dating magbubukas dapat as Savoy Hotel?

They're targeting a 2018 opening and 2018 na. Surely this can't be built from scratch with that timeframe so I am assuming that they'll just rebrand the yet-to-open Savoy Hotel as Hotel Okura Manila.

^^

I think ito yung under construction Maxims Hotel extension .If you look at the render may Maxims logo/signage pa din sa upper right facade ng Okura Manila.

The Maxims Hotel Extension

The Company is currently developing a seven-storey extension to Maxims Hotel, featuring luxury accommodations and an additional 175 suites. The Maxims Hotel extension will be connected to Maxims Hotel by a footbridge and will be located next to the Hilton Manila and Sheraton Hotel Manila hotels, which are also currently under development. Excavation at the site began in May 2013 and construction on the extension began in March 2014, with completion expected by the fourth quarter of 2017.

^^ That is clearly the expansion building of Maxims which would be rebranded as a Ritz Carlton.

Nope, based on the latest news, it's the existing Maxims Hotel and not the current Maxims Hotel Expansion... :)

Uh, I'm referring to the rendering as the Maxims Hotel Expansion.

As for the rebranding, I think the news is referring to the current Maxims Hotel as a brand that will be rebranded, regardless of which building is involved; ergo, if the expansion building is supposedly for Maxims, then it too will be part of the rebranding into a Ritz Carlton.

Is there a separate thread regarding the upcoming developments in RW? Like this expansion. I heard there are plans to relocate the existing casino
Casino extension lang ang gagawin. I don't see a plan na irerelocate yung Casino sa annex.
Update from Google Maps Streetview
