Looking at the model of the new airport, it seems that they're not planning in building a second runaway. Wouldn't the traffic become too dense when the new terminal is finished and they're only relying on a single runaway?

@simplyrammy : Correct, In this development project, AP I just concentrate to increase capacity of the terminal building, currently terminal has been over load and crowded :eek:hno:

@èđđeůx : Yes it's true, source

Also you should know, that this airport becomes a second HUB for Garuda's Int'l routes :cheers:

^^ I do hope when the new terminal is finished, Garuda would deploy a bunch of its B738 and A332 here to open more International and domestic routes to and from DPS :cheers:

Great project, DPS desperately need this new terminal...
I still cant forget my last trip using this airport was a disaster. Too many passangers, too small terminal building, the result? Total chaos to my tour's group :eek:hno:

Strategic Airlines cancels Perth-Bali route

STRATEGIC Airlines will stop flying between Perth and Bali later this year.

The Australian-owned full-service airline commenced flying the route in June 2010 and will cease its schedule on October 31.

But while Strategic Airlines has struggled to make the popular leisure route viable, Garuda Indonesia is setting itself to introduce its low-cost carrier to the market through its subsidiary airline Citilink.

A schedule between Perth and Denpasar Airport is believed to be high on Citilink’s agenda as it continues to expand.

Citilink, who will break away from its parent company in 2012, has 55 Airbus A320s and two 737s on order that will allow it to fly to destinations within four hours of Indonesia.

Until now, the Garuda subsidiary has flown only domestic routes, but the state-owned airline is looking at schedules to Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Strategic Airlines will continue to fly between Perth and Derby, in the state’s north. However, PerthNow believes routes between the popular Indonesian holiday island and the east coast of Australia are also under threat.

Strategic Airlines is not available for comment and people holding tickets beyond October should contact the airline, or their travel agent.

Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Air Asia and Skywest also operate on the Perth-Bali route.
