Can someone explain to me how this works? so if the nuclear plants are to be built in Lagos the bulk of the electricity generated will be for Lagos? or will the whole southwest benefit equally? Does that mean there needs to be a nuclear plant in each zone of the country?

It not news how careless Nigerians can be. For me, a nuclear power plant is suicidal for the populace. We could explore the coal and biofuel safer options till we have matured in our management culture.

Whatever we do lets get away from gas. gas pipelines are routinely destroyed shutting down power for entire zones. They're easier to sabtogue for whatever reason, and there's always a reason.

Nuclear isn't a bad idea. The north and the middle belt are very empty and have vast stretches of land that would be perfect for siting plants. If there's a melt down the odds or hitting ppl are low. It issue is getting specialists to live there. Lagos is a bad move because a melt down would shut off the only port we have, and cut of 15% of our population and economy.

I think that nuclear energy is a bad idea. It is very expensive and as history shows in case of failure can contaminate hundreds of square kilometers of land for decades. See for yourself the German documentary "Atom under control". It must be remembered that the construction of the power plant costing 15 billion, and after 45 years you have to spend extra 20 billion to dismantle and secure nuclear power plant and near area.

This is absolutely not a good idea to start producing power from Uranium in Nigeria.

Especially since there are oil and a lot of gas available.

This money should be invested in dams, solar and wind solutions.

More so, one of the biggest problem is the network which needs to be refurbished and strongly improved.

If not corruption that is endemic in Nigeria, this proposal will be a welcome development in Lagos state. Nigerians are not lacking in ideas but implementation is the next problem
