The small village of Niha is home to two of the
most beautiful Roman temples in the Békaa
Valley. On the hill above this site is Hosn Niha,
or the “Fortress of Niha,” with two more
partially-preserved Roman temples. The Niha
temples were built according to the classical
Roman architectural tradition, which is evident
in the temples spread throughout Lebanon.
The name Niha originates from the Syriac word
meaning “the rested” or “the dreamer.”
