Line 1 is a metro line with 28 stations, of which 12 are elevated, while 16 are underground stations. The construction began on June 26, 2009 and opens in 2014.

Line 2 is a metro line with 31 stations, of which 21 are underground. The construction began on December 23, 2010 and opens in 2015.

Six metro lines are planned and some suburban lines are also planned

Ningbo isn't a large city and I don't anything that is odd about that the city hasn't have any metro. I would say that Ningbo is a third-tier city. It's more important that medium to large Second-tier cities such as Harbin, Changsha, Nanchang, and Kunming gets metro than Ningbo gets one.

Ningbo Metro rolling stock built by CSR. Looks like their cookie cutter model used in Zhengzhou and Changsha Metros.
