Fellow Forumers,

My inspiration for this was Jan's European Stadium Nominations. I thought about it. What about World Stadium Nominations. The rules are, you must submit 32 of your favourites Football/Athletics Stadiums. The 32 most Nominated Stadiums will qualify for the Competition Proper. The other rule is you must Nominate 5 Stadiums from Each Continent (Europe, Africa, Asia, North America/Caribbean, Oceania and South America). That will equal 30 Stadiums. The other 2 are Wildcards, so the extra 2 spots, you can freely nominate. I must stress, to stop arguments, Please respect everybody's opinions and only use the Thread to Post your 32 Stadiums. You can give reasons for your Nomination if you want to. All Stadiums must be Completed/In use. To start us off, here are my 32 Nominations:

Africa:
1. Cape Town Stadium (Cape Town, South Africa) -- I love how it looks by the water.

2. Grand Stade de Marrakech (Marrakech, Morocco) -- The way the track fits in is a bit off-putting but the overall design is lovely.

3. St. Georges Park (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) -- A really sharp Cricket ground.

4. Mbombela Stadium (Nelspruit, South Africa) -- Great stadium. I love how the seats are painted.

5. Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban, South Africa) -- Just a really good design.

Asia:
1. Kaohsiung National Stadium (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) -- I think this stadium has a really iconic design and I love how the function (the solar panels) blends with the form.

2. Toyota Stadium (Toyota, Japan) -- Really fantastic and unique venue.

3. Mong Kok Stadium (Kowloon, Hong Kong) -- Compact and handsome little stadium.

4. Osaka Dome (Osaka, Japan) -- I'm not quite sure why. The exterior really makes it stand out for me for some reason.

5. Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre (Shenzen, China) -- Nice, unique exterior.

Europe:
1. Esprit Arena (Dusseldorf, Germany) -- This is my favorite retractable roof stadium in the world.

2. Stade de France (Saint-Denis, France) -- I know it's polarizing, but I really love it. I find the roof really appealing.

3. Princes Park (Dartford, England) -- Tiny but really, really neat. I hope more clubs at that level around the world can build similar stadiums.

4. Kadir Has Stadi (Kayseri, Turkey) -- I think it sometimes gets lost in the shuffle because bigger Istanbul also has nice new stadiums, but it really stands out to me.

5. Aviva Stadium (Dublin, Ireland) -- Solid stadium.

North America:
1. Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles, USA) -- I've always seen it as the perfect baseball stadium.

2. Tiger Stadium (Baton Rouge, USA) -- Super loud and iconic.

3. Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, USA) -- Because of that huge stand.

4. BC Place (Vancouver, Canada) -- That roof.

5. Estadio Jalisco (Guadalajara, Mexico) -- I just like it.

6 (w.c.). BB&T Ballpark (Charlotte, USA) -- Because no one else is going to vote for it and I like it.

7 (w.c.). Estadio Rommel Fernández (Panama City, Panama) -- I like it.

Oceania:
1. Forsyth Barr Stadium (Dunedin, New Zealand) -- Awesome. I'd like to have one just like it here. Plus I like how "Dunedin" sounds.

2. Melbourne Cricket Ground (Melbourne, Australia) -- Possibly the greatest sports venue on the planet.

3. Adelaide Oval (Adelaide, Australia) -- Solid stadium. I was skeptical about the reno originally but I've come around to it.

4. Suncorp Stadium (Brisbane, Australia) -- Another really solid stadium.

5. Kardinia Park (Geelong, Australia) -- I instantly think of this stadium when I think of Australian football. Part of that may be Geelong's association with the sport, but Kardinia is part of it too.

South American:
1. Mineirão (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) -- Love the exterior.

2. Maracanã (Rio de Janerio, Brazil) -- It's the Maracanã.

3. Pacaembu (São Paulo, Brazil) -- I love this stadium's facade.

4. Estadio Nacional (Lima, Peru) -- This stadium seems really imposing but still looks comfortable. The track isn't too invasive either.

5. Estadio Hernando Siles (La Paz, Bolivia) -- I have no idea why, it just looks like a really tough place for an away team to win and that appeals to me.

It is interesting to see what everyones taste in stadium are as you see these. I think we get the best feel for someones taste though when they get to North America. we have so many different types of large stadiums that there is a type for everyone to like.

I don't think I was clear about deadlines before:

The Nomination process is open until Midnight 00:00 (London, England Time) on the start of Tuesday 17th June 2014.

That means:

19:00 on Monday 16th June 2014 in New York City, United States of America.
20:00 on Monday 16th June 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
9:00 on Tuesday 17th June 2014 in Sydney, Australia.
8:00 on Tuesday 17th June 2014 in Tokyo, Japan.
7:00 on Tuesday 17th June 2014 in Beijing, China.
1:00 on Tuesday 17th June 2014 in Durban, South Africa.
1:00 on Tuesday 17th June 2014 in Central Europe.

After this, when I log on next after this, I will count up the Nominations and put the 32 most Voted Stadiums into the Competition. I will then PM Jan with these, to see if he can start a Voting for One on One for this.
