Height - 15m / 49ft

Floors - Up to 4

Space - 44 residential units

Use - Residential + Retail

Architects
- Leonard Design Architects

Developer - Carlton Street Trading Ltd

A planning application has been submitted for a new build of 44 apartments along with the refurbishment of the current market buildings on site.

The building fronting the junction of Bath Street and Southwell Road is to be demolished to make way for a 4 storey block of apartments with ground floor retail. The market buildings flanking Avenues D and E are to be refurbished to replicate the finish of the neighbouring 2014 Sneinton Market project. Avenue D and the new build will contain retail on the ground floor, whilst restaurant units are to flank Avenue D and Sneinton Market Square.

That proposal looks quality.

That part of Nottingham has some beautiful old architecture but all of it is in such a sorry state. Hopefully this will help regenerate and revitalise the area.
A much needed project to fully complete the regeneration of the market. About time.
This is great, are the first lot fully let now?
I know this sounds a bit weird, but the existing building has always really irritated me. I guess because I could never quite fathom the thinking behind the construction of such a squat, unremarkable one-storey building that close to the city centre. Seemed a complete waste of the space. So I'm pleased it's being replaced with something more befitting the location.
Looks great, a much needed addition and will be really nice to see some refurbishment in this most neglected part of the market.
44 residential units? That seems quite a high number for its modest size considering that the ground floor looks to be retail.

I agree, however I’m glad of the return of brick and that the decade of crazy cladding may be finally over

Presumably student flats in either studio or cluster bed arrangements would seem to make sense for 44 units here

This has been APPROVED

The apartments will consist of 36 student and 8 'standard' residential. The overall design of the new build has been tweaked as per the below latest renders:

Wait, just to be sure these remaining units aren't to be demolished are they? It appears they're being kept from the renders.

They'll be staying don't worry! It'll be for internal demolition and part external for alterations. The corner building will be fully demolished for the new build

That's the derelict building on Lower Parliament opposite the Arena I think, looking at the renders.

Looks like you're right Pete, and looking at the renders it's a surprisingly substantial building, goes up to 6 or 7 floors at one part!

^^It does look pretty good! Reminds me of something you would find in Rotterdam or some other thriving new area in a European City. You can see an old render I found back in summer of this project on my development map, I will be creating a thread once the planning app goes live (NO DON'T STEAL THAT IDEA TOO KEV! ;) )
