Wow, can't think of a Chinese can join the baseball team of US, nice one~~
The impressive thing is, that he is playing for the New York Yankees! Woah! It's like playing for Manchester United in the Premier League or driving for Ferrari in the Formula One! btw, there are also other Taiwan baseball players in the MLB, but he is exceptional!

-G'day-
wow i see baseball is really popular in Taiwan. Even in Taiwanese drama kids play baseball they dont play basketball :)
^Baseball is very popular in Taiwan, Japan and Korea^^

Anyways~Good luck Chein-Ming but I hate the Yankees...-o-;;

haha, I am with u ^^ expecially!!! I am in Boston!! =.=ll I will go see him play once Yankee play with Sox 2 wks from now ^^

I like Samsung Lion & Lotte Giant for korea and Fukuoka Hawk where Taiwanese Sadaharu Oh is the Head Coach.

And YES, I grew up playing baseball in little league in Taiwan for my school! Baseball is known as Taiwan's national sport!

:cheers:
^Good news! Yankees is doing very bad this season! ^.^v

You are lucky to live in Boston! You can go watch the Redsox game in the

legendary Fenway park! I really envy Sadaharu Oh. He previously had

the Asian record for most homeruns in once season but now a Korean player

Lee Seung Yeop holds that record.^^

Lee Seung Yeop of former Samsung Lion was one of my favorites! He did beat Sadaharu with 56 homers (Sadahaur's 55 in 1964 when he was played at Yomuri Giant) in one season in 2004. Nevertheless, many expected him to perform well when he arrived at MLB USA couple years ago and later Lotte in Japan, which has yet to be seen. If my source is correct, he was not the starter for awhile in lotte until recently? :)
^Yes, he was quite disappointing in Lotte Marines. But now I think he is used to Japanese style of baseball and is doing quite ok.^^

Yes, and ever since he started to pitch from the end of April, the Yankee has been winning the last 9 games stright (including Wang's 2nd win tonight pitching against the Mariners). A great asset to the Yankee and a huge morale booster! And as far as I know, Yankee fans are going wild about "Tiger" Wang!! :)
whoa, the forum layout changed! creepy. i was still surfing, and all of a sudden this section looked different.
Great news!!!

I'd like to see more asian major leaguers !

Good luck 王建民 (Wang Kun Min - in korean) !!
Yankees 9 stright wins in a row!

True true! Since other than Yao Ming, most asian players are not yet at the level of NBA, let along playing for NFL. MLB is the only sport that Asian has a shot at it so far. And with my Wang's win over Mariners today, Yankee has bounced back to above .500 ave. Believe or not, I've just checked on e-bay relating to Chien Ming Wang's item....and people are willing to pay over $100 for purchasing his baseball cards! Incredible!!

I am glad that so far he is surviving well in the "Yankees" and hope that he can continues to do well in the future games! There is already a talk of him winnig the 2005 Rookie of the Year award in NY Yankee's Offical Fan Forum if he continues to perform well through out the season. :cheers:
^Great news! Congratulations Wang Chien Ming!

^I think he is throwing a curveball^^;;
