Heading east brings us into the hood known as Utopia. It goes from Union Tpk to the LIE (I-495) between 164th St and Utopia Pkwy with Fresh Meadow La. This hood is mostly residential. It was originally part of Queens Valley and later on Fresh Meadows. For the most part it was farmland until the start of the 1900's. It was decided to create a nieghborhood known as Utopia after the Utopia Land Co decided to build land here to help with Jewish families from the LES. It started out with the Utopia Playground, but the housing project never got built due to the company facing bankruptcy. Instead, houses were built on the site allow for families of low and middle income, but it only came every now and then. A number of other families that come from China, Korea, Russia, India, and Latin America have been living here since the postwar era. Utopia is mostly assiciated with Fresh Meadows, but residents do give its own distinction. You can get here by taking the Q17, Q30, Q31, Q46, Q65, Q65A, and Q88 buses. Here is what you will find in Utopia.
