Well, at least it's not another 'vision'.

Just kind of ambitious in a place where 40 stories is a *thing*.
This building can easily have 200+ floors :D I hope it will get built

Quite a beautiful and elegant tower, IMO. Now, as to whether there's the capability and feasibility to build it is another matter. But I'm sure it's possible to do.

Wow! What a beautiful tower! Will they have more than 200 floors? That's very high.

If the Egyptians were smart they would gentrify Old Cairo and make it the most appealing neighborhood in the city, like the old towns in European cities. That would add far more value and prestige to Egypt, and increase tourism far more than this tower ever will, and it wouldn't cost as much, but would be far more profitable for the local population in the long term.

All these Mid East countries trying to copy Dubai is a mistake. Dubai worked because it was first, with a small local population that had a mountain of cash that they did not know what to do with. Egypt is the exact opposite. A giant improvised country with 90mill citizens who all need homes and jobs, and they won't be able to afford these modern places. This is a really bad strategy.

Beautiful and massive! Looks like it's floor space could be close to 1 sq km

I counted something around 220 in the video
Great news but i really do not like the design !

bottom half that kind of looks like the Burk Khalifah
the scale cladding ive seen on the Chrysler building ? or was it the Empire state building ?
Mid section that looks like that ugly grollo tower proposed for Melbourne i think way back
and the top bit is really cheap looking (material wise)

hopefully this is just a preliminary sketch !
This is a vision only .. Design is messy though .. I agree with Dubai Boy
no need really to talk about the design. If this was to become a thing they would certainly hold a large competition.

YEAAAAAH

Pharao Ancient Egyptian Style. Looks like a big OBELISK !!!

The Ancient Pyramides were thousands of years the highest man-made structure of the world till the Eiffel Tower took the lead in 1889.

Now with this building Egypt will be in the TOP 5 again together with other projects in the Middle East.

The problem here is this is a city project, not a 1 tower project, which makes this one very expensive for the Egyptian Gov or any other investor, and with Egypt declining economy I don't see how this is possible.

They should cancel the whole thing and keep the tower, fix its design and build it somewhere close to the pyramids (but not too close) having pyramids in the background of this tower and vice versa would be awesome.

Building 1 tower is less impossible than a whole city in Egypt, fingers crossed this goes beyond the vision stage.

Don't worry about pyramids, going through their checklist of tacky things they'll build lots of all glass pyramids anyway. If they wanna build it I assume the money will come from the very charming fellow who's crown prince next door.
The shape and proportions of the tower are close to that of Goldin Finance 117. Wonder how they would look compared
Impossible 200m tall water fountains.

I really want to see a new landmark for Egypt, but I think 1000m is too much, consider the cost and everything for it's development.
I think Egypt has the money to built it.

They have discovered a huge gas field on the eastern mediterran sea.

Gas discoveries in the Mediterranean

Since 2009, a series of natural gas discoveries in the Levant Basin have shaken the dynamics in the region. Israel's discovery of the Tamar Field and subsequent discovery of the larger Leviathan Field ignited hopes for other potential discoveries in the region.

The Greek Cypriot's 2010 maritime deal with Israel paved the way for Cyprus to press on with a drilling program at the Aphrodite gas field in block 12 of its exploratory drilling zone, which it had licensed to Noble Energy in 2008.

Texas-based Noble Energy in 2011 made the first discovery off the island of Cyprus in the Aphrodite block, estimated to contain around 4.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. This field is located at the 12th exploratory drilling block in the maritime Exclusive Economic Zone and is estimated to hold about 200 billion cubic meters of gas.

The massive Zohr Field was found in Egyptian waters by Italian firm Eni in 2015. Eni reported the discovery of an estimated 30 trillion cubic feet of natural gas off the coast of Egypt

It is a very interesting project, a beautiful building. But its construction with oil revenues would be insulting to the population that face many difficulties. I agree that it would be better to recover the old Cairo as a touristic attraction.
To be quite honest, I think this tower is mostly a marketing stunt. The message seems clear: "We're building a new city and are looking for investors - and by the way, we'll build the tallest building in the world!"

Cue the media reporting "Egypt will build the tallest building in the world in the middle of a new city, and are now looking for investors."

Cue potential investors reading: "Egypt to build new city, there are opportunities to invest there. Tallest building in the world may be included, if we find enough money".

And then, cue the tall building being postponed to phase 2, 3, 4, ...n of the city construction. But at least investors worldwide have heard about the project, and the media attention to "the tallest building in the world" has spread the news much faster and farther than the city project itself has.

So yeah, mostly a tool to attract attention to the project. Proposing the tower may very well give some financial advantages (mostly in the form of marketing), but I doubt it will ever be built.
