^^ That thing looks huge. I'm certain each Octagon will be its own agency -

Mukhabarat, Mabahis, Military Intelligence.

The landscaping will hopefully make it look. My OCD is killing me because the two octagons in the top center are not actually in the center.

That is one big-ass complex, each individual building looks massive. I genuinely hope they wont name it "the Octagon" though, surely there are more original names than that.

I don't mind the name. Better than naming it after a date or some random ass person like we normally do.

It's not a bad name per se, it's just that there's already a Pentagon. I'm sure we can come up with a more original name.

Finally found some renders for the Octagon on some Facebook page. The renders are crap, as in the quality is awful so I'm holding my opinion on the design for later until I find a better one. I'm not exactly expecting an architectural masterpiece from something shaped like an Octagon.

No way would they have built a building that big. As I stated earlier, each building might very well be used by different agencies.
It was very clear from the satellite screencaps that they were building 9 / 10 different buildings. The buildings are still pretty huge.

On a side note, I hate the glass panels they use for construction in Egypt. They look like shit.

They look a lot more similar to the defense complex. But if this is the quality of their execution I have a feeling I will be disappointed. The renders (for the government district) look much better reality.

I double-checked and this is indeed the military complex. Construction on the government district is not this advanced, and hopefully the execution will be more true to the renders posted here.

Holy molly Batman!!! This thing is bigger then I could have imagined. It's like a city within a city.

Expect nothing less from the most powerful institution in the country. This is a fortress basically. Notice the underground tunnels connecting the building? The logistics will be an absolute nightmare, imagine having to walk from one building to another. They should have gone for a skyscraper or a big complex or something, but it would be a lot more exposed to attacks.

My biggest qualms with this project is 1. the copycat name and 2. the cheap execution of the exterior.

From the image above it seems like the new capital is an extension (or better not a separated city in the middle of nowhere, but rather a continuation) of other projects like mostakbal and madinaty? That would make a lot of sense if true. Will it be the case?
