Government is investing £40 million through Advantage West Midlands and East Midlands Development Agency to deliver this new facility in early 2011. Research work will focus on the development and application of near net shape manufacturing, high integrity joining and fabrication techniques, advanced tooling and fixturing systems, intelligent automation of fabrication, inspection and electronics manufacturing operations and operational performance and process integration. Companies such as Rolls-Royce and Airbus will be involved in the centre on a former airfield near the M6. Three universities, Birmingham, Nottingham and Loughborough will join with TWI Limited to support it. Over 10 years the centre is expected to see £130 million business-led applied research and its exploitation. It is envisaged that around 5000 jobs could be created in 3-5years

I've also noticed the demolition of the low rise flats near the A46 flyover on London Road.
so what's going to be developed in the place of the former NTL base?The other store closed down earlier this week.
The buildings near the flyover are actually offices - it used to be NTL's base.
The Hope and Anchor was well on its way to being an ex-pub this morning. Shame, really, but I guess it's an anachronism stuck there.
