No, it would be #1 for all times as there's no city left that features a skyline of only classic towers.
i know what you mean, but still, a city can't stay a museum - progress is the essence. i think the mix of old and new is great, the only problem i got are some fat boxes located in lower manhattan. they are very unappealing to the eye, and the lack of dominating towers (i.e. supertalls) makes it even worse. i just can't wait till 1WTC finally makes its presence known from everywhere.

btw, i just noticed something: ny's first supertall (by roof): ESB, 1931. ny's latest supertall: 1WTC 2013. dear lord, what a timeline.

What a great shot! The aircraft is most likely the prototype of the Douglas DC-4, which first flew in 1938. Picture was most likely taken in 1938/'39.

^You sure do know your planes.... I wonder what would the city look like if they did leave manhattan in its pre-war state and zoned all new skyscrapers to outer boroughs....

I just wanted to compare this photo to a newer version... The old lamp post is stunning and really difers from that newer crapier street light...

...I know this was posted a year ago, but it's pretty cool. I'd like to see more of this before and after stuff. Maybe there are some intrepid photographers in NY that could provide same!
