Onitsha City transformation

I am reviving this thread because the title captures the essence of the pictures that I am about to post.

I give credit to the owner of the moniker "Anambra1stson" who is a member of the nairaland.com. Thanks for taking the time to explore the city of Onitsha and its surrounding neighborhoods.

Onitsha GRA

Onitsha has 2 GRA (GRA phase 1 and 2). Phase 1 has been built to full capacity and has lots of "Old Money" while phase 2 which is adjacent to phase 1 is being built up. Because the land is expensive, developers have moved to surrounding communities around Onitsha to purchase land to build on.
Below are some pictures of Onitsha GRA.

So the problem of Onitsha metro area is that it is urbanizing rapidly but the government (both state and local) cannot keep up with basic infrastructure.

Plus it looks like development is left in the hands of individuals with no proper city planning.

Due to lack of funds, the state government should develop a system where private developers are incentivized to build the roads in their neighborhood.
