funny, humen is that town where Mr Lin Zexu burned opium 150 years ago and West countries used this as one of reasons to attacked China?
it's not small, it's somewhat large. quit with the propaganda bull already.

also, i can't help but 'love' the endless rows of carbon copy houses and the artificial plantlife.

china is the definition of tacky.
:eek:mg: The city looks very nice, and the localitation also looks awesome!
I supose there appears a 650k city every day! XD
May I ask, are those buildings surrounding the lake with red roofs, a resort or residential apartments?

By Chinese standards it really isn't a big city. And what is wrong with those houses? They look really nice, especially on the banks of that lake.

If you want to talk about ugly, turn your attention to the American suburban sprawl where all the houses are the same, and dotted here and there by fast food chains!

But this city is REALLY very nice!!! I am starting to have a very high opinion of Chinese citys!
Aviador_BH I totally concur what u said... my thoughts exactly...

I live in LA myself and I'm soooo sick of all the desert cities like Valencia... they're all completely voided of character... just valleys full of rows of houses with the exact same design, with a block of strip malls intersected by a 6 lane avenue... even worse in San Diego...

at least in the pic about there's beautiful scenery... I doubt that the lake and the hills are 'artificial"

He IS right...every house around here built now looks exactly the same inside and out, sadly.
I do agree that maybe the city planners could have made those housed just a little distinctive from one another, maybe change the color of the roofs or something.

But I don't feel that takes away from their beauty. Although identical to one another they are still very nice and accented by that spetacular landscape.

But yeah, if you want to get tired of something go live in an American suburb for a while! Especially in the American south. All the apartments look the same and the houses are nearly identical with no exciting archetecture about them.
