INFO ABOUT ONNE

Onne is situated at Ogu Creek, a side-arm to Bonny River. It is part of the Odido Clan in the Eleme Local Government Area of Nigeria. It is a major port in the region and has several quays with facilities for cargoships up to 60,000 grt. Onne is also the main base for the offshore activity in the region, and a large number of supply-vessels call at Onne every week. Stores and freshwater are available as well as fuel and minor repairs.

International hospital facilities used by the oil companies. Nearest airport is at Port Harcourt, but it is presently closed for upgrading...UPDATE - As of February 27, the airport was allowing flights to land.

A few local bars Espionage, Seaside, Papa's Bush Bar and Cynthias are much frequented by European and American sailors.

Isnt Onne the same as the Port Harcourt port??
BTW: Shouldnt this be under the transport and Infrastructure section??

Actually no, The Port of port harcourt is actually located a couple of kilometers from onne port.

The estate is to the North of this Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT)



and this is the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT ) which is further South from that

Maybe its me that is either too starry eyed or just plain daft, but to me, all of this here signifies growth and development of Nigeria as a whole.


It is sad that far too many people cant seem to recognise our gradual progression, and seem hell bent in causing chaos and destroying the country by their own parochial and selfish agitations.
