I was told by a very reliable source that a 20-storey building shall be built on the parking lot within the IBP Building along J. Vargas Ave., beside Amberland Plaza. Details to follow as soon as they're available. I supposed the design is in full swing as of this date.

IBP inks deal with Ortigas & Co. for new headquarters
by Malaya Business News | Thursday | 21 February 2013 00:00

Property developer Ortigas & Co. has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) for the development of a new 35,000-square meter office building in the Ortigas business district.

The MOU signing event was led by IBP president Roan Libarios, Ortigas & Co. president and chief executive officer Rowell Recinto, and Ortigas & Co. Real Estate Division general manager Joey F. Santos, with Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and Sen. Ed Angara as witnesses.

Ortigas & Co. will construct the building beginning May 2013 until the second quarter of 2015.

Deemed to become another landmark in the Ortigas area, the building will rise to more than 20-storeys sporting a unique architectural façade, a retail area, ample parking floors, and will employ state of the art facilities.

“Our history with IBP began as early as the 1970s. With the facilitation of Sen. Angara, Ortigas & Co. donated 3,500 square meters of land where the old IBP office now stands. We usher another opportunity to strengthen our partnership by constructing this new space,” Recinto said.

He added, “Ortigas has built subdivisions and shopping centers all of which are very well-loved by residents and the mall-going crowd. More recently, we developed the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) facilities located in Frontera Verde as a response to the growing demand for prime grade office spaces. The new IBP building is another one of the newest office towers to rise in the Ortigas CBD—both a demonstration of our expertise and our commitment to further refining this district, one masterwork at a time.”

The signing was held as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the IBP, which is the official organization of lawyers in the Philippines safeguarding the integrity of the profession.

Ortigas & Company is the developer behind some leading residential, mixed-use, and retail developments like Circulo Verde, Frontera Verde, Capitol Commons, the Valle Verde subdivisions, as well as Greenhills Shopping Center and Tiendesitas.

MANILA, Philippines - Ortigas & Co. is building a new office building in the Ortigas business district.

Ortigas & Co. will be building a 26-storey building on a 1,700 square meter-property owned by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP). The building will be called IBP Tower.

IBP and Ortigas recently signed an agreement setting a 35-year lease period and allows the property developer to build the tower on IBP's property. IBP will use three floors of the building, while the rest is expected to be occupied by Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offices, and law firms. The tower, which is expected to be completed on the third quarter of 2016, will be brokered by Colliers Philippines.

Wasn't there a similar proposal to this a couple of years back?

I do recall it was only 20 floors, a much more simplier (but seemingly glassier) box and was kinda blackish in colour.

The IBP Tower is a 26-storey building with 15 office floors with a typical floor plate of 1,363.00sqm, 8 podium parking, retail space on ground floor and an amenity floor housing restaurants. The building's attraction is its location as it is very accessible from the MRT Ortigas as well as malls like SM Megamall, The Podium, and Metrowalk. It has pedestrian access from two streets, a distinct advantage for office patrons and employees. The IBP Tower is a joint venture development between the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and Ortigas and Company Limited Partnership.

FEATURES

Front and back access for pedestrian (Doña Julia Vargas Avenue and Jade Drive) and back access for vehicles (Jade Drive)
Retail options at the ground floor
24/7 Access to various transportation options
Walking distance from malls, retail complexes, food establishments
Expected completion Q1 2016

^^ Not the best looking building in Ortigas, but I feel very happy and maybe lucky that IBP chose Ortigas as their landing spot. Most of us are aware of the lack of commercial/office spaces in Ortigas, so this project definitely addresses that. They added floors, we all like taller buildings hehe. Its location is prime, right smack in the middle of the CBD with 360 degree views of the CBD. Last but not least (I think I mentioned this before), this is the Bar Association of the Philippines....to me that's huge (hint hint lol). Presumably, lawyers, judges, executives, and legal experts now can call Ortigas home. These professionals increase the buying power of retail/food in Ortigas....good for businesses all around.
