Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are two of my favorite cities in the U.S., and for various reasons. Fellow forumers, let us know what qualitites of these two Pennsylvanian cities do like or love? What are your favorite neighborhoods and entertainment districts? What things would you like for the cities to add? Anything else positive about the two cities...please specify in your post. Also, post pics if you have any.

I love them both. And even though they're in the same state, they conuldn't be more different. Philly is an East Coast city without question, whereas Pitt is more midwestern.

Philadelphia is my 2nd favorite city on the east coast. The density, the love each resident has for their neighborhood, the culture...everything. It is enjoying a much welcomed renaissance that I hope goes on for eternity.lol :j/k:

I've only been to Pittsburgh like 2 times, and each time was great. I also had the pleasure of eating their specialty sandwhich. I forgot the name( I know it starts with a P.) Can someone from the 'burgh help me out? :)

I was going to post a thread similar to this. I'm glad you indicated positive aspects.

Philadelphia what can I say. The neighborhoods, Society Hill, Rittenhouse, olde city, etc..
This city was first in just about everything of any importance in this country. I mainly like the location, location, of this city close to numerous beaches, our own casino resort, etc.. I can go on and on.

Pittsburgh a nice city and my favorite football team the world champion Pittsburgh steelers. Another great major city in the Hills of Pennsylvania.

I've been to both cities in that past few years. I love the urban quality each has. Here in Tampa, I'm deprived of any real city neighborhoods. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia have those dense, quirky, bricky that I just love.

I love them both. Everybody in PA always complains about PA... but PA has two of the best cities in the country (as well as tons of beautiful wilderness and countryside... and quaint, historic small towns).

^ That is why Pennsylvania is my favorite state. Every state has bad politics or other bad aspects, but one shouldn't let them overweigh the good.

Both are exquisite cities. I am not going to go on a rant about why I love Philly, but I'll just say I have only really been to Pittsburgh once, and it was fantastic. Veyr dense, very urban (I wasn't even in the downtown... just in the college area and some residential neighborhoods) and alot of pedestrian traffic. It was very differne then Philly but it had somehwat of a similar feel in teh parts I was in. Some of the housing architecture was also veyr similar to architecture in my neihgborhood in NW Philly.

Pittsburgh is the grittier of the two major PA cities. Even so, it still has soe of the best arts and culture scene for a city of it's size. Also, has the most dramatic views of any American city (Mt. Washington).

Phila on the other hand is the most cosmopolitan of the two, and a major player in the American economy (Comcast, Sunoco, Crown, Rohm and Haas, etc.).

Both cities are major business, cultural, and economic centers. They're also great sports cities, too!!!

Both are great cities. Philly's location should make it boom more than it does and it's offers so much. Pittsburgh of course is smaller and being one of the smaller major Northeastern cities makes off the radar often, but it does offer many neighborhoods, with typical Northeastern roots... a uniqueness with the hills and really an excellent city for its size in the arts and universities.

Overall it's great, because one be in more cosmopilitan philly or pittsburgh which is a little quirkier, but fun and very livable (philly as well when compared to NYC).
