Hello, go to www.imageshack.us and you are able to resize your image.
Or better yet, just copy paste the picture on paint and save it from there, it will be much smaller
I suggest going to www.freefilehosting.com

Its fast and easy and makes your pictures a whole lot smaller.
I use a program distributed by Google called picasa (http://picasa.google.co.uk/)

Organises everything, and if you want to resize a picture, just select it and click export. It's got some simple editing tools to correct exposure and colour casts and a few effects. Great program.
Get Adobe Photoshop! It's the perfect (and the best) photo editting program available. You can resize, crop, brighten, darken, saturate/desaturate your photos, and much more. :)
Or get Jasc Paint Shop Pro which has almost the exact same features, but costs a lot less.

It's a bad idea IMO to let imageshack or freefilehosting.com resize your photos for you, because of the fact that you cant choose yourself how big they will be. Most of the time they end up way too small...

You can upload your photos (1MB) or smaller at Imageshack.us , or Photobucket.com which is the one I use (however, unless you subscribe for the premium package thing like i did, the max upload size is only 512KB; ½MB.) It's a much more "neater" and organized site compared to imageshack..
Almost every picture browser like Irfanview for Windows or Gqview for Linux has option 'resize'. We don't have to speak about graphical programs like Adobe Photoshop for Windows or Gimp for Linux and Windows.

@ DLL_4ever Yes, Photoshop is good but how much does it cost? For me Gimp isn't worst but it is for free.

You can get it for a rediculously high price of $300 US (or you can do what most other people do and download it for free from programs like eDonkey, Kazaa, etc. :) If you don't like downloading free stuff, fair enough. I just think it's redicolous paying that much for a program.)
Thanks for the hint, Londonerupnorth.... I downloaded the google one and will see how it goes. I have used AcDc for years and loved it, but somehow it corrupted in my computer and I cannot fix it.... tried deleting it from the system and reloading, but it is still corrupted. This google one looks good!

edit next day- This google programme is VASTLY superior to the AcDc I
was struggling with! Thank you so much for the hint as I love it! The most
amazing thing is the "straightening" function for photos that are slightly off
centre.. I have one question though... in my camera, when I take a high
quality picture, it comes out large, like 2288x1712... can I resize them with
this Picassa programme to a smaller size? Thanks!
No problems!

yeh, select the picture/s you want to resize and go to file->export. It will give you a quality and size option (this is the size of the lonest side, so to get a 640x480 image, enter 640). It'll also ask you for the folder you want the resized images to go into.

Make sure you mess around with some of the other features like labels, they can be very useful when organising images!

Hmmm... I tried that, and couldn't make it work. It just grouped the pix
together into some sort of zip file that I couldn't open. I still don't have the hang of Picassa and making alterations to a photo stick...
Sorry to bring this old thread back to life, but I am still having trouble with Picassa...
I can edit pictures with it, but it does not permanently edit the picture in my folder.
I cannot seem to make the edit permanent... anyone familiar with Picassa? I like the
feature of "straightening" a slightly tilted pic, but it doesn't seem to permanently edit.
Thanks!
I like ACDC to resize, etc... but Picassa has this neat function to straighten out a slightly tilted photo. I just can't make it permanently change the picture in my folder.
Very good is Irfanview and of course for free.

BTW, google created Picasa for Linux and MacOS users.
