Home to millions of species including humans, Earth is the only place in the universe where life is known to exist. Scientific evidence indicates that the planet formed 4.54 billion years ago, and life appeared on its surface within a billion years. Since then, Earth's biosphere has significantly altered the atmosphere and other abiotic conditions on the planet, enabling the proliferation of aerobic organisms as well as the formation of the ozone layer which, together with Earth's magnetic field, blocks harmful radiation, permitting life on land.

"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives."
Carl Sagan

This thread is a tribute to Mother Earth. We will post two wonderful pictures per day. Pictures containing Nature and Wildlife sceneries as well as Urban ones.

It's actually a sunrise.

Whey, I was there only a few months ago. A very beautiful place, indeed.

I don't get your opinion though. Name some other species who have enough power to destroy hundreds of other species, ruin earths ecological balance, change it's climate or blow it up 100 times. I think we separated from nature from the moment first tools were made by man.

If you read pamphlets of freshmen "ecologists", who like to hang out with their friends protesting against something (who cares what), you might get such opinion. We are as much part of nature as whales in oceans and moss in bogs. Yes, currently we are creating a lot of mess on Earth and these events force us to change our behaviour. But this was inevitable.
