Poland's unemployment rate decreased to 17.2% in April, from 17.8% in March, stats office GUS said in a report.

The number of jobless measured 2.704 mln in April and was 118,400 lower than in March, when it hit 2.822 mln, and 8.6% lower than in April 2005.

Unemployment was expected to hit 17.2% in April, according to the Labour Ministry. The number of unemployed was expected to decline by 116,100 to 2.706 bln.
