Poll: Should the view of the ESB be protected from the Hudson?

Simple poll really, there's a surge of construction going on in Manhattan right now. But what about the past icons and indeed THE icon of NYC.

Should this view of the Empire State Building be blocked from the skyline if a development made it so or should it be preserved?

Absolutely not. It's got well over 80 years of fame and unspoiled views, it's about time New York got over its hang-ups about protecting the ESB's dominance of mid-town otherwise the rest of the world ( Shanghai, Dubai, Hong Kong..) will leave New York behind.

It's a bit like carrying around a photo of your ex-girlfriend and 'protecting her special place in your heart'... get over it...she's gone...you'll never get a new girl if you keep this shit up... move on with your life.

Time for midtown to move on.

The good news is that the minds here are pretty progressive.
No, lol. To do so would be to spit in the face of the spirit that built the ESB in the first place.

It's not a holy site, it's a big ass office building from grandpa's days.

With that said, enough is landmarked in the immediate area that it will always have roughly the same prominence on the skyline. I don't see any modern lighting schemes that even come close, either.
