Hint: Germany shares a common border with the country.
Don't tell me it's Basel, Geneva or Bruxelles
Finally you come up with these major "European cities". However, these are still incorrect.
Don't tell me it's Basel, Geneva or Bruxelles
 increadable! Okay it's for sure not Zurich ;) But what could be a "German Colony"? Breslau, Gdansk, Graz?
No.

Hint: The city indeed had slight German influence throughout its history. The park is not related to Germany, though.

Copenhagen, Warsaw, Rotterdam?
Rotterdam ist the closest.
Copenhagen, Warsaw, Rotterdam?
Amsterdam, Den Haag, Strasbourg?
Den Haag is the closest.
Amsterdam, Den Haag, Strasbourg?
Didn't you say it's an over 500'000 city and the country borders Germany? If Den Haag is the closest and closer than Rotterdam and Amsterdam is out and Bruxelles, Strasbourg, Basel, Zürich or Copenhagen as well as the Polnish cities are wrong, what is left then? Utrecht or Antwerpen?
Neither. Now the solution is apparent.

"slight German influence"?
Paris

Lol, "almost a European colony"
Guess the park now. It's in Paris.

Hint: "Colonial".

As a world city, Paris has the most diverse culture amongst major French cities. Immigrants and commerce significantly combined with its French traditions. Many merchants, scholars, industrialists, workers all around Europe, many from Germany, Alsace, Belgium, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Scandinavia, etc. lived and worked in Paris. African, Vietnamese and Chinese immigrants also influenced the culture of Paris.
"slight German influence"?

How someone can come up saying that Paris is a German colony????? That doesn't make sense at all for me, sorry. Or I just misunderstood the whole thread
Often the city which has the most tendency to colonise others might in turn colonised by others culturally. Alsatians (Most of them were German speaking) like Baron Haussmann modernised Paris into a vibrant city. Paris metropolitan area is one of the most multi-cultural in Europe: at the 1999 census, 19.4% of its total population was born outside France.

The park, is not that "colonial" actually, the problem lies on its name.

Thanks, you are right, especially thinking of Haussmann.

The park maybe is something like "Parque de Cologne" or "Bois Colonial"
Neither, but you are on the right track.

Solution: Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris.
CLEAR! I was even there and made it a cover of a tape of my music nearly 17 years ago

It's also a song by Joe Dassin ;)
