Philippines population to hit 107 million in 2018

MANILA, Philippines — From 105.53 million last year, the country’s population will rise to 107.19 million by the end of 2018, the Commission on Population (PopCom) said yesterday.

Citing projections by the Philippine Statistics Authority based on the latest census in 2015, PopCom executive director Juan Antonio Perez III said the population was estimated to grow to 107,190,081 by Dec. 31 from 105,377,586 in 2017.

Perez said the increase would be boosted by some 1.8 million babies expected to be born this year, representing a growth rate of 1.69 percent.

“That means we will be adding 4,953 Filipinos per day, or 206 every hour in 2018,” he told The STAR.

Tapos yung si H wala pa atang anak. Baka ayaw talaga ng anak. :D

Ayaw niyang sumunod sa yapak ng tatay nya? Di ba, marami silang magkakapatid ni H? Sampu yata. :D

I beg to disagree on that "don't have kids, don't have sex" thing. :D But that "don't pay taxes" part, your are 101% right.
I see what you did there. hahaha Celibacy is a thing they love to advertise but all bets are off outside the public eyes. Si father na maraming sinalantang batang lalake, si father na may anak at si father na kukuha ng serbisyo ng isang menor de adad na batang babae. Hypocrites to the bones.

Direct population policy. In terms of direct population policy, both Thailand and Indonesia have adopted proactive family planning policies since the 1960s. The result of these family planning policies have allowed the use of contraceptives that have effectively helped to reduce the fertility rate to a norm that allows reduction of family size among families.

The results of these policies can be seen in the way the population growth rates of both Thailand and Indonesia have fallen. Advances in maternal health care and in medicine have reduced death rates significantly in most countries.

In the Philippines where the debate on family planning had gone on for prolonged periods, the fertility rate remains one of the highest in the region, which today is at “3.” (Definition: Fertility rate is a measure of the number of live births per 1,000 women in the population).

Today, the fertility rate in Thailand is “1.4.” This is very low, about one-half the rate in the Philippines. Indonesia’s fertility rate is “2.3” Thus in both cases, the fertility rate is so much lower compared to that we find for the Philippines.

Full implementation of RH law to cut poverty: NEDA
By Leslie Gatpolintan January 25, 2018, 7:41 pm

MANILA -- The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is drafting an executive order (EO) mandating all local government units (LGUs) to implement the Reproductive Health (RH) law, which it deems vital to the government’s goal of accelerating poverty reduction in the country.

“I’ve been saying that the intensive and extensive implementation of the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health law is important. We are going to submit that (EO) to the next Cabinet meeting,” NEDA Director General and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia told reporters Thursday.

Citing Commission on Population (Popcom) data, Pernia said efforts to fully implement the RH law were expected to bring down poverty from the current 19 percent to 9 percent by the end of the Duterte administration.

“That assumes that all LGUs are aboard in terms of full implementation,” he noted. “There is a demand for it, especially from poor families who don’t have access or limited access to family planning services.”

The NEDA chief said the family planning program was a “very powerful tool” and the cheapest way to reduce poverty.

It is harder to reduce poverty by just macroeconomic growth. It has really to be targeted, focused on the poor families who are having more children than they can afford,” he said.

^^ tapos yung mga mayayabang na ayaw ng population control through reproductive health means ay yung mga walang anak at Ayaw Manganak or Magka-Anak (CBCP, nuns) kahit di naman pinagbawal sa kanilang Diyos ang mag-asawa at manganak. And they live under the care and offerings of their poor parishioners. Hypocrites. :eek:hno:
