Portland Tower, Arndale Tower, Citi Tower.

What do you think the sky line would be like without these three towers. Personally I think they completely ruin the skyline. The problem with manchester is that there is no cluster, and may never be one because the city centre is so spread out. These three towers in isolation standing tall ruin the skyline. Id rather not have them at all!

They are actually the 3 Buildings which cluster the best in the City Centre!

We don't have much of a skyline as it is, without them it would be nothing but mundane misrise with Beetham standing tall at one end! City tower looks great after its makeover imho, I think the Arndale tower could do with a nice reclad but I doubt it will ever happen.

I agree. I used to like all three - but what bruntwood have done to poor Portland Tower is a disgrace.
The gable ends used to be nice stone (effect?). Granted the pebble dash bits on the front needed a good clean, but otherwise it was a handsome building.
Now it looks very cheap - and has a passing resemblance to a liquorice allsort.

Hats off to bruntwood for city tower though. A good job there.

Arndale tower isn't too offensive either.

I think Portland Tower needs diagonal black or grey lines on the yellow side - Hacienda Style.

leeds has pretty much the same problem as you guys, 3 generally quite plain towers to the North of the City, with the better new stuff being built to the South of the city. However i dont think it would improve the cityscape if they weren't there, i think they add bulk to the skyline and will provide a platform for better/bigger towers to rise up against, hopefully
