Even with 30 years of double digital growth rate, over 30% of China's population still live on less than 2 dollars a day. I am wondering if the communist government really do not give a shit about ordinary people. :bash:

Agree with you! China should increase salary as fast as possible!

I think the reason about some population still live on less than 2 dollars a day, is because of geography location. They live deep in the mountain, jungle and desert, hardly connected to global economy. Most of them are traditional farmers and herders. In my opinion, the only good solution for them is relocation and modernization, like this article below:

BBC This World 2012 - The Fastest Changing Place on Earth

This is the best documentary video about China rural transformation. A must see if someone completely blank about what is going on in China.

From this (2006):

To this (2010):

From a dirt poor villager into modern urban people. Now I understand why there are a lot of complain and protest like those in Wukan village, but at the same time 90% of Chinese people satisfy with the government.

So much struggle, fight, confusing, misunderstood, craziness, everything. But at the end I can't even recognize the children, was those dirt poor village children, they will have a good future.

What the documentary film don't tell, but wrote in BBC text version of the topic. Beside of the town, China government is also building highways to connect this new town to nearby big cities like Chongqing, Xian and Wuhan. China government also invite a lot of investors and businessmen to build factories here.

The rural people will get steady-safe job with good salary. Easy transportation gives access to many products and services with far lower price. Higher salary and cheaper products, mean living standard improvement. People is also gain access to modern public services like hospital. Children also get modern school and have a huge change to enter university. This is a good solution, China need more of this, and China government should put this at first priority.

China is came from the total fair society (communist), to became a capitalist society. The government duty is to create unfairness, to motivate the people to work harder and to boast competition.

But of course, we all know that not all people are hardworking and motivated. Some are hopeless and prefer to stay like that forever, like those people in the mountain, jungle and desert. It's the government duty to help them.........more likely to move them into a modern town/city and push them into the competition to motivate them.

Poverty is not a problem in China. China should focus on solving more pressing problems like. Foreign media saying bad things about China. Taiwan. South China sea, and Diaoyutai. These are the real problems that effect the vast majority of Chinese people.

^^ These are all mainly territorial issues and political issues. Got nothing to do with the Chinese people. I think the main problems is for Chinese people to have more self respect for themselves, for other Chinese people and better manners. Also to recognize that they are equal to everyone else, stop all that facade sh*t (the show off attitude), western suck up etc.

socially, China needs better healthcare and people need to be respected. To say that corruption all happens in grey/black countries like China is a lie since ALL countries have corruption so to eliminate it would be impossible.

Over 10% of China's population is illiterate. What can u expect from a 3rd world communist country?
When you wrote: What can u expect from a 3rd world communist country?.......I know that you know nothing, just accepting to be brainwashed by Cold War propaganda, that ended 20 years ago.

This is because of old people who grew up in times when there was still no universal basic education.
What Chrissib wrote is right. People are forget or never care about China history before Mao Communist era. For almost 200 years China was in chaos, from the Taiping rebellion that killed 30-50 millions of Chinese, to 1911 revolution and the collapse of Qing dynasty, to warlord period and chaotic democracy and then Japan WW2 invasion that killed another 30 millions of Chinese. At the time China population is just around 300-400 millions of people. 30-50 millions people death, you can imagine how worse the situation at the time.

It was Communist who finally able to restore order. Without communist, there will be another 100 years of chaos. China will never look like today. There will be no 95.9% of literacy rate.

The only regret thing about China communist era is.......it took the economy path of Mao Zedong and hardcore communists to develop China. Not to take the path defined by Zhou Enlai and 99% of China intellectuals at the time, to mix London's liberal capitalism and Moscow's socialism.

What I regret with today China, the Deng economy reform, is.......the dismantled the communist era of good public services, ignore all the good of socialism.

i think it is impressive to see that one picture above of that village turning into a more modern village, the sad thing is, the people who lived in the village still can't afford those houses or apartments, and they sit empty, cough..ghost cities :)
