Dubailand selected as venue for the Falcon City of Wonders

In the not too distant a future, people can travel to Dubailand to see most of the 'Wonders of the World' and at the same time have their life's most exclusive experience.

Falcon City of Wonders.
Dubailand has announced that it will host the 'Falcon City of Wonders', which will be developed by a leading local real estate developer. The AED 5.5 billion project will occupy an area of 4 million square meters.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Dubai by Saeed Al Muntafiq, Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority; and Salem Al Moosa, President of Falcon City of Wonders and a member of Salem Al Moosa. Also present at the signing ceremony were Salem bin Dasmal, Chief Executive officer of Dubailand.

Al Moosa said, 'Inspired by the vision of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, this project will give the private sector the opportunity to participate in the development of this country.'

He added, 'We believe that success and growth has no ceiling and as much we give to our country and to our economy, as much it will grow. As wise people say, if there is a will, there is a way. And our way was clearly identified. Enthused and encouraged by all this, we decided to keep on contributing in the growth and evolution of Dubai by launching this project, which will be one of a kind -- not only at the regional level -- but also at the international level. This project will teach us about the times and cultures of peoples from different ages past and from various parts of the world.'

Al Moosa said that Phase 1 of the project is expected to be ready by 2007, according to studies carried out by experts and engineering consultants at WS Atkins Engineering Consultants who conducted the project's feasibility study as well as Klininc , the German company who envisioned the entertainment area of the project.

Saeed Al Muntafiq Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority said, 'Falcon City of Wonders will be one of our most awe-inspiring projects at Dubailand. It will be an experience to visit. Falcon City of Wonders will not only engage our imagination, it will also be an educative experience.'

Al Muntafiq added, 'Falcon City of Wonders will stretch the limits of our credulity regarding what man can achieve when he is motivated enough. In some ways, the Wonders of the World featured at Falcon City will remind us that at Dubailand too - as in Dubai as a whole - we are capable of transforming into reality what we can dream of.'

Land of civilisations

Falcon City of Wonders will accommodate and combine in a highly pleasant mix various commercial, residential, educational and leisure amenities with entertainment facilities. In addition to this, the Falcon City of Wonders - as the name suggests - will house famous attractions from different spots in the world like the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylonia which will also feature a relaxing resort, the Eiffel Tower hotel, and the Taj Mahal and the Leaning Tower of Pisa hotels. It will be a land of civilisations.

The project will feature a fun city inspired by the Pharaohs' era. This will be divided into three areas: Pharaoh's Theme Park, which will be located by the main entrance and will include the old plaza of Alexandria, the Pyramid of Giza, Cleopatra Oasis, the great Nile and the amazing virtual reality games. The Kings Valley will be the centre of all the fun and games in addition to the 'Mirage', the land of fantasy, the shows areas, a stage for interesting light and sound shows, Sindbad and Ali Baba.

The project will feature a unique exterior, reflecting the falcon, which is the UAE's mark. Also, the falcon wings will feature a number of elegant villas and compounds. The project will also include shopping malls, hotels, health and fitness centres, schools, and parks.

The Falcon City of Wonders is an exceptional creation adding yet another unique facet to world-beating tourism, lifestyle, entertainment and leisure facilities that are being developed at Dubailand. It will be designed as a handsomely distinguished city where historical landmarks, a state-of-the-art theme park and modern lifestyle will all come together to honour cultures and to celebrate diversity of civilisations.

Falcon City of Wonders launched in Dubai

An ambitious AED 5.5 billion (US$ 1.5 billion) project within Dubailand, Falcon City of Wonders, was launched at a grand ceremony held Saturday, 10 September, 2005 at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, in the presence of H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Salem Al Moosa, CEO and Chairman, Falcon City of Wonder LLC.

Dubailand is one of the biggest leisure, entertainment and tourism destinations in the Middle East region, spread over an area of 3 billion square feet.

The Falcon City of Wonders significantly complements the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence to turn Dubai into one of the leading tourist destinations in the world. Shaped after the Falcon, which is symbolic of UAE's heritage, the Falcon City of Wonders is a unique, purpose-built community project featuring structures based on the wonders of the world, such as the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Light House of Alexandria. The project is spread over an area of four million square metres, and is divided into five overlapped phases, with the first phase expected to begin by the first quarter of 2006.

Saeed Al Muntafiq, Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority, said, "Falcon City of Wonders is one of the most ambitious projects to come up in the city of Dubai, and will significantly enhance the city's appeal as a tourist hub. By capturing the spirit of ancient civilizations and recreating the architectural marvels of the world, at the same time combining it with modern facilities, the project offers a truly unique experience to visitors."

"Falcon City of Wonders is unparalleled in the uniqueness of its concept and the broadness of its scope," said Salem Al Moosa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Falcon City of Wonders LLC. "The project will effectively be a land of civilizations, creating an exotic ambience for visitors, while educating them about the culture, tradition and lifestyles of people from different ages. It is this distinctive nature of Falcon City of Wonders that sets it apart from developments elsewhere in the region."

The project will bring together the wonders of the world under a single umbrella. While the Grand Pyramid of Giza will contain residential flats, offices and retail outlets, the Babylonian Gardens will comprise luxury apartments, restaurants and coffee shops. The Light House of Alexandria will consist of hotels and retail outlets. Luxury apartments and retail outlets will be the main features of the Eiffel Tower, whereas the Taj Mahal will comprise hotels and restaurants. The Great Wall of China will encircle the Pharaohs Theme Park located within the fun city.

Falcon City of Wonders will feature a unique exterior based on the Falcon, with a number of elegant villas and compounds constituting the Falcon wings. The project comprises apartments, villas, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, health clubs and spas, schools and parks.

"With its collection of entertainment, residential and educational facilities, Falcon City of Wonders is set to be the most comprehensive multi-purpose development in the region. While the project will feature a wide array of developments, each of them will have a distinct identity and appeal," Al Moosa said.

Mahmoud Rayyan, Project Manager, Falcon City of Wonders, said, "All the structures have been conceived following careful consideration with exhaustive attention to detail, to deliver a unique visitor experience. Falcon City of Wonders has already signed agreements with leading local and international design offices to develop concept design for the major constituent structures of the project."

Dubai: The wonders of the world are to be replicated in an ambitious Dh5.5 billion project called the Falcon City of Wonders at Dubailand.
Shaped like a falcon as a symbol of the UAE's heritage, the city features structures based on ancient and modern wonders of the world, such as the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Lighthouse of Alexandria.

The project was launched yesterday at a ceremony attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Falcon City significantly complements the vision of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, to turn Dubai into one of the leading tourist destinations in the world, said Salem Al Moosa, chairman and chief executive officer of Falcon City of Wonders LLC.

"The project will effectively be a land of civilisations, creating an exotic ambience for visitors, while educating them about the culture, tradition and lifestyles of people from different ages. It is this distinctive nature of Falcon City of Wonders that sets it apart from developments elsewhere in the region," he said. The city comprises apartments, villas, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, health clubs and spas, schools and parks.

Spread over four million square metres the city is divided into five overlapping phases, with the first expected to begin by the first quarter of next year.

Finance for the project will be raised through a mix of banks, investors and sales of commercial and residential properties, said Al Moosa.

"Falcon City of Wonders has already signed agreements with leading local and international design offices to develop concept designs for the major constituent structures of the project," said Mahmoud Rayyan, project manager, Falcon City of Wonders.

"These structures, modelled after the world's wonders, will be larger than the originals. The Eiffel Tower structure will be 70 feet taller than the real one in Paris and the Taj Mahal area will be 150 per cent larger than the one in Agra, India," he said.
eiffel tower in paris is 300m tall

"We have many wonders in Dubai already, but this project that has the Seven Wonders included along with the many other projects already in the works will only help attract more visitors to come here.

"We are always looking for new ways to promote this city, and what it has to offer in attractions and activities," said Eyad Abdul Rahman, DTCM media relations manager.

Covering four million square metres, it is being built in the shape of a falcon, a symbol of the UAE's heritage.

the only people who might know about this project are the gcc people, as it is being advertised here mostly
