Dubailand selected as venue for the Falcon City of Wonders

In the not too distant a future, people can travel to Dubailand to see most of the 'Wonders of the World' and at the same time have their life's most exclusive experience.

Falcon City of Wonders.
Dubailand has announced that it will host the 'Falcon City of Wonders', which will be developed by a leading local real estate developer. The AED 5.5 billion project will occupy an area of 4 million square meters.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Dubai by Saeed Al Muntafiq, Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority; and Salem Al Moosa, President of Falcon City of Wonders and a member of Salem Al Moosa. Also present at the signing ceremony were Salem bin Dasmal, Chief Executive officer of Dubailand.

Al Moosa said, 'Inspired by the vision of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, this project will give the private sector the opportunity to participate in the development of this country.'

He added, 'We believe that success and growth has no ceiling and as much we give to our country and to our economy, as much it will grow. As wise people say, if there is a will, there is a way. And our way was clearly identified. Enthused and encouraged by all this, we decided to keep on contributing in the growth and evolution of Dubai by launching this project, which will be one of a kind -- not only at the regional level -- but also at the international level. This project will teach us about the times and cultures of peoples from different ages past and from various parts of the world.'

Al Moosa said that Phase 1 of the project is expected to be ready by 2007, according to studies carried out by experts and engineering consultants at WS Atkins Engineering Consultants who conducted the project's feasibility study as well as Klininc , the German company who envisioned the entertainment area of the project.

Saeed Al Muntafiq Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority said, 'Falcon City of Wonders will be one of our most awe-inspiring projects at Dubailand. It will be an experience to visit. Falcon City of Wonders will not only engage our imagination, it will also be an educative experience.'

Al Muntafiq added, 'Falcon City of Wonders will stretch the limits of our credulity regarding what man can achieve when he is motivated enough. In some ways, the Wonders of the World featured at Falcon City will remind us that at Dubailand too - as in Dubai as a whole - we are capable of transforming into reality what we can dream of.'

Land of civilisations

Falcon City of Wonders will accommodate and combine in a highly pleasant mix various commercial, residential, educational and leisure amenities with entertainment facilities. In addition to this, the Falcon City of Wonders - as the name suggests - will house famous attractions from different spots in the world like the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylonia which will also feature a relaxing resort, the Eiffel Tower hotel, and the Taj Mahal and the Leaning Tower of Pisa hotels. It will be a land of civilisations.

The project will feature a fun city inspired by the Pharaohs' era. This will be divided into three areas: Pharaoh's Theme Park, which will be located by the main entrance and will include the old plaza of Alexandria, the Pyramid of Giza, Cleopatra Oasis, the great Nile and the amazing virtual reality games. The Kings Valley will be the centre of all the fun and games in addition to the 'Mirage', the land of fantasy, the shows areas, a stage for interesting light and sound shows, Sindbad and Ali Baba.

The project will feature a unique exterior, reflecting the falcon, which is the UAE's mark. Also, the falcon wings will feature a number of elegant villas and compounds. The project will also include shopping malls, hotels, health and fitness centres, schools, and parks.

The Falcon City of Wonders is an exceptional creation adding yet another unique facet to world-beating tourism, lifestyle, entertainment and leisure facilities that are being developed at Dubailand. It will be designed as a handsomely distinguished city where historical landmarks, a state-of-the-art theme park and modern lifestyle will all come together to honour cultures and to celebrate diversity of civilisations.

Design work starts on Falcon City

Dubai

Leading German design firm Kling Consult has been appointed to carry out the concept design for villas that form part of the first phase of Falcon City of Wonders, an ambitious Dh5.5 billion ($1.5 billion) project to be set up within Dubailand.

The firm will prepare the detailed design of 345 villas within the mega development.
Besides the villas, the first phase will contain the corporate offices of Falcon City of Wonders as well as an educational museum to demonstrate the history of world civilisations and the development of the UAE.
Falcon City of Wonders, which spreads over an area of 4 million sq m, is a unique, purpose-built community development featuring structures based on the wonders of the world.
Shaped like a falcon, which is symbolic of the UAE's heritage, the Falcon City of Wonders will feature structures based on the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Light House of Alexandria.
The project is divided into five overlapping phases, with the first phase expected to begin by the first quarter of 2006.
The project will bring together the wonders of the world under a single umbrella. While the Grand Pyramid of Giza will contain residential flats, offices and retail outlets, the Babylonian Gardens will comprise luxury apartments, restaurants and coffee shops. The Light House of Alexandria will consist of hotels and retail outlets. Luxury apartments and retail outlets will be the main features of the Eiffel Tower, whereas the Taj Mahal will comprise hotels and restaurants. The Great Wall of China will encircle the Pharaohs Theme Park located within the fun city.
Falcon City of Wonders will feature a unique exterior based on the falcon, with a number of elegant villas and compounds constituting the falcon’s wings. The project comprises apartments, villas, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, health clubs and spas, schools and parks.
“The development is unparalleled in the uniqueness of its concept and the broadness of its scope,” said Salem Al Moosa, chairman and chief executive officer of Falcon City of Wonders. “It will effectively be a land of civilisations, creating an exotic ambience for visitors, while educating them about the culture, tradition and lifestyles of people from different ages. It is this distinctive nature of Falcon City of Wonders that sets it apart from developments elsewhere in the region.”
Mahmoud Rayyan, project manager, Falcon City of Wonders, said: “All the structures have been conceived following careful consideration with exhaustive attention to detail, to deliver a unique visitor experience. Falcon City of Wonders has already signed agreements with leading local and international design offices to develop concept design for the major constituent structures of the project.”

"These structures, modelled after the world's wonders, will be larger than the originals. The Eiffel Tower structure will be 70 feet taller than the real one in Paris and the Taj Mahal area will be 150 per cent larger than the one in Agra, India," he said.
OMG, this is soo FREAKIn' FUNNY...!!! I was just about to suggest this, but seems they thought of it already...!!

This will sure make serious headlines around the world when it first opens...Especially in France...Do u think they'll take it as an insult, or they'll be flattered, since after all 'imitation is the most sincere form of flattery'...If they don't take it too well it might not be so good for Dubai, since according to an article i read a few months ago, Dubai is something like the 5th most favourite tourist destination for the French...Out of 10 most favourite in the world...Thats a nice little extra notch on Dubai's belt..I wonder, when they do visit in the future, will they consider staying at the Dubai Eiffel Tower! LOL :)

So is this project on track then...? Still due to open, first phase at least, sometime in 2007 is it?!

I agree with everyone who finds this project tacky. I mean it makes sense to have models of landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in places like Las Vegas and Disney World, because those are just for themeing, but because they are turning landmarks into residences I just find this project tacky and I guess one could say "lower class". just my two cents

Well its going to be located in DubiaLand, which is supposed to be a bigger, inshala more successful, version of Disney World...So you said it yourself...It has to make some sense...A residential complex in the largest theme park in the world, or is it just the middle east??!
I think this project is even worse than Vegas. Building them bigger than the originals (and turning them into shopping malls) is about this biggest insult to the originals that can be made. Years and years of work and hard labour were put into creating the wonders of the world and here someone just goes and recreates them in a year. I'd bet these guys even considered recreating the cistine chapel complete with Michelangelo's works and all. Also imagine if they decided to build a replica of the twin towers but bigger. How insulting would that be?

I think this will actually become Dubai's most famous landmark but for all the wrong reasons. Also the sad thing is people from outside will think this is what Dubai is and what it's about. They'll think: "Oh it's that city that recreated the world wonders to try to get attention" and they'll miss everything else. I know this is probably my most pessimistic post here on SSC but really, this is the low of all lows and I don't see any good coming out of this project. People won't take Dubai seriously anymore after this is built.

BTW, that reminds me to add a few more puke signs next to this project on my thread ;).

Lol, How weird and funny and maybe insulting (an ambivalence of emotion really) would it be if Dubai built real replicas (Maybe Bigger?) of the destroyed 9/11 New York World Trade Centre Twin Towers..!
Why not? This one doesn't exist anymore so why not make a new one ;)
Noo...Its a statue...7aram...Ppl might idolize and worship it..!

Oh, i forgot about the nakedness...And i resent that remark..Just because i'm not aware of all the crazy extreme 'wrong' beliefs about it being forbidden to take pictures of ppl and draw them, doesn't mean i'm clueless when it comes to religion...I probably know just as much as u do about religion...Plus it was only for one yr that i went to AUB... :tongue2:

Falcon City of Wonders displays its show model at BurJuman Centre

Falcon City of Wonders, an ambitious AED 5.5 billion project being built within Dubailand, is showcasing a model of the project at BurJuman Centre, a leading shopping mall in Dubai.

Falcon City of Wonders model

The 25-square metre show model will be on display at BurJuman until November 11, 2005.

The model features the entire range of structures that constitute the project, including the architectural wonders of the world such as the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. In addition to the wonders, the model contains 1,400 villas and 54 G+6 buildings. The aesthetically illuminated model is positioned atop the glass bridge over the fountain located off the main doors of BurJuman.

'Falcon City of Wonders is a landmark multi-purpose development that is set to transform the landscape of Dubai. In this regard, it is important that we promote the project to the right audience,' said Salem Al Moosa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Falcon City of Wonders LLC.

'Being one of the premier shopping malls in Dubai, BurJuman attracts tens of thousands of visitors every day, which makes it the ideal venue for us to showcase Falcon City of Wonders to the city's residents and visitors. The show model conveys a clear idea about the size and scope of the project as well as its specific aspects. By leveraging the excellent promotional platform offered by BurJuman, we will be able to generate greater awareness about Falcon City of Wonders among investors, tourists as well as the general public.'

'Dubai's tourism industry already generates about AED 7 billion a year, and the figure is projected to increase further in the coming years. Falcon City of Wonders will be at the forefront of this growth in the city's tourism sector. It is the only project to feature life-size replicas of the wonders of the world, making it a truly unique attraction. Falcon City of Wonders will be a unique mix of tradition and modernity, capturing the spirit of ancient civilizations and combining it with modern facilities,' Al Moosa added.

Falcon City of Wonders is shaped after the Falcon, which is symbolic of the UAE's heritage. The project is spread over an area of 4 million square metres, and is divided into five overlapping phases, with the first phase expected to begin in early 2006. Falcon City of Wonders comprises apartments, villas, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, health clubs, schools and parks.

Of the wonders of the world that make up the project, the Grand Pyramid of Giza will contain residential flats, offices and retail outlets, while the Babylonian Gardens will comprise luxury apartments, restaurants and coffee shops. Retail outlets and luxury apartments will be the main features of the Eiffel Tower, whereas the Taj Mahal will contain hotels and restaurants. The Great Wall of China will encircle the Pharaohs Theme Park.

BurJuman Centre is among the most luxurious shopping malls in the world. Comprising over 2.8 million square feet of retail space, BurJuman has more than 300 prestigious stores, including designer fashions such as Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Cartier, Escada and Rodeo Drive.

Falcon City of Wonders to give a boost to tourism

By Nermeen Elkady, Staff Reporter

Dubai: Tourism in Dubai may get an added attraction as visitors will be able to see some the Seven Wonders of the world.
The Falcon City of Wonders, the Dh5.5 billion community project being built in Dubailand, will feature architectural wonders such as the Pyramids, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Great Wall of China, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Exhibitors and visitors study a model of the Falcon City of Wonders in Dubailand during Cityscape 2005 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

"Dubai's tourism industry already generates about Dh7 billion a year and the figure is projected to increase further in the coming years.

"Falcon City of Wonders will be at the forefront of this growth in the city's tourism sector. It is the only project to feature life-size replicas of the wonders of the world, making it a truly unique attraction," said Salem Al Moosa, chief executive officer of Falcon City of Wonders.

The Department of Tour-ism and Commerce Marketing says any additional projects can only aid in promoting Dubai as a tourist destination.

"We have many wonders in Dubai already, but this project that has the Seven Wonders included along with the many other projects already in the works will only help attract more visitors to come here.

"We are always looking for new ways to promote this city, and what it has to offer in attractions and activities," said Eyad Abdul Rahman, DTCM media relations manager.

Covering four million square metres, it is being built in the shape of a falcon, a symbol of the UAE's heritage.

The project will combine commercial, residential, educational and leisure amenities with entertainment facilities, and will have apartments, villas, shopping malls and several other amenities in addition to a Pharaohs Theme Park.

Of the wonders that make up the project, the Grand Pyramid of Giza will contain residential flats, offices and retail outlets, while the Hanging Gardens of Babylon will comprise luxury apartments, restaurants and coffee shops.

Retail outlets and luxury apartments will be the main features of the Eiffel Tower, and the Taj Mahal will contain hotels and restaurants. The Great Wall of China will encircle the Pharaohs Theme Park.

A model of the project will be on display at BurJuman Center until November 11, the first of five phases may begin in early 2006.
