As i understood, the winner is not yet clarified, but here are some insights on Zaha Hadid's project proposal, which is nominated as the best in terms of preserving and restoring the old historical part of quarter.

More info about all proposals here:

What do you all think about these solutions offered?

Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects won the competition. And I do agree, their proposal is most elegant, encompassing the heritage of the site as well as beaming out dynamic character of the modern city.

Zaha Hadid's proposal is a marvelous piece of architecture, though more suitable for a more modern area, like Skanstes. In Kr.Valdemara it would look like something out of place. In my opinion.

Danish practice Schmidt Hammer Lassen has won a competition to repurpose a derelict brewery in the Latvian city of Riga, introducing offices, a hotel and a public plaza >>

It does because most buildings which now are being built are dominated by square forms. Most new buildings doesn't have much round forms and that's why this project feels doesn't fit in here.
All-glass (without any shades) buildings get very hot in summers so cooling expenses in summer for such a project has to be enormous. I have heard that Swedbank building is spending more in summers to cool it down then they spend in winters to warm it up. Not sure if that's true though. On top of that, all that curved glass has to be pretty expensive. It sure looks nice as a standalone building, but it just feels very alien. I really hope they don't pick that as a winner.

Btw, according to db.lv they want to start moving ground this year already. That's not realistic, right?

Ko var teikt par šo projektu?
Manas domas:
Viens no labākajiem atjaunošanas/industriālās apbūves revitalizācijas projektiem.
Viena no estētiskākajām ielas fasādēm Rīgā pēdējos gados.
Labākais tas, ka tiks sakārtots vesels kvartāls Rīgas centrā.

^^ Tagad ir izsludināts jauns konkurss, kurš vēl nav noslēdzies: saite
Jā, diemžēl projekts kas bija tiešām izcils pārāk dārgs, tagad konkursā meklēs ko lētēku :(
