Visionen - Parkmuseerne

I must admit I think it is better to keep this thread dedicated specifically to the new natural history museum. None of the other museums are likely to generate a lot of construction news since they are located in historic, listed buildings and have no expansion plans as far as I know (except for the new space in front of SMK). If the idea is to include all sorts of other news as well - a new director, a new museum café, an acquisition of a new painting or something like that - it seems to be outside the scope if this forum and thus off topic. I therefore don't really see the idea in including a number of other museums only to get a minimum of extra news and updates to post (and even if something occurs, it will generally be completely separate projects, except that there are plans to introduce common outdoor furniture). Better to keep it nice and simple and dedicated to the new Natural History Museum which is quing to be a quite big and - hopefully - very interesting project.. Not sure if the funding is even in place though.

As for the language issue, I am positive to going for Danish in general. But since we have previously had the discussion and a vote which resulted in a large majority for sticking to English, I think it would be better to take a general decision and have a new vote. No idea though if SSC has any general rules on the matter. Sorry to be a wet blanket.:)

A photo-tour in Botanical Garden today.

The Fantastic summer weather today brought us in the garden today. The good part is there're always space. No crowdy..
The bad thing: your not allowed to sun bathing on the green fields, so that's why there're so few people in here ..
While we wait for the designing proposals, that will appear this month, some silent photos from this peacefull place :)

Momentairy there're some ongoing renovation paid by A.P. Møller Foundation completed this year.

Pay attention tomorrow, this is interesting.

In spite of the amazing amount of talent in the competition, Lundgaard & Tranberg take it again ... I believe.

I really, really, really like the winning proposal. The "whale hall" looks simply stunning from the renders, and if they really manage to make it look like they're swimming through an opaque sea it's gonna rock.

I visited zoologist museum a lot as a child and was amazed by the big hall where they had two, huge (for a 6 year old) whale skeletons. But then I visited again a couple of years ago and the place seemed run down and was left feeling very disillusioned. So I really hope the new Natural History Museum can bring back that feeling I had as a kid :) Big hopes!

Seems that Lundgaard & Tranberg were the only one taking this competition seriously.

And I agree Köbtke, it's absolutely stunning, especially the underground exhibitions halls are fantastic.

Nu mangler kun pengene.
1,4 billion dkr. how in earth will get that sum of money, they have to dig deep. I volunteer donate the first 1000 kr. for this project.

And here's a bit more..

I completely agree, the right proposal won. Actually I'm a bit disapointed of the other teams proposals, I had expected more. That said, the winning proposal is fantastic, so never mind the others :)

I LOVE it :) Fantastisk forslag :)
I guess you right about that. In the 'dommerbetænkning' it says
The Jury recommends unanimously the proposed execution
The only main objection the Jury got, is the 'Whale Hall' that has to be re-worked.
