Interesting.. Can you imagine if they used the same approach when building skyscrapers?cphdude said:
How come they are allowed to use "royal" in the name? What kind of relation does it have to the royal family?

Yeah...or just building in general...DenverDane said:Interesting.. Can you imagine if they used the same approach when building skyscrapers?
Like most other things with royal in their name, there is no relation to the royal family. I dont even think they play golf...Anyways, the major problem with the name, was with the famous Royal Copenhagen brand, but i guess they worked it out...DenverDane said:How come they are allowed to use "royal" in the name? None at all, the name is a sham. I really can't understand why the name passes without consequense. It is bordering to a hoax, and could easily cast an undignified light on the city in general.DenverDane said:Interesting.. Can you imagine if they used the same approach when building skyscrapers?

No I found it at www.danskgolfdesign.dkcphdude said:Very nice...Did you find them on their website?
Which is pretty much what i said. I dont know what your problem is dude, but you need to take the arrogance down a nutch...Not everybody who disagrees with you is an idiot, and you are not the smartest person in the world. Like other people have mentioned a lot of companies call themself royal something. And i doubt that every turist will brake down in tears when they find out thet the royal family is not the owners...And as far as the royal family playing there, why not? The crown prince and princess Mary both play golf, and this is planed to be certanly the best court in Denmark, with great VIP facilities...So why wouldnt the royal family, or some of them, play there??KristofferM said:CPHdude,
I never imagined that you would be superficial to the point of idiocy. The word Royal means Royal, and that means something, if you're a Japanese tourist visiting a kingdom! Anybody in Rock Springs, Wyoming, USA, can call anything they like royal something. But not here. The major problem with the name is that it falsely purports to be the Royal Golf Club, which would be the club where the royal family plays golf, or at least the golf venue, that has special attention of the royal family. Which it isn't, never has been, and possibly never will be. The entrepeneur is effectively lying, and we're allowing him to do it. Why can we be so naive as to suppose that such negligance with important "signal" names won't harm us, as well as the city of Copenhagen, as it will rightly and deservedly do so in this case. Nobody likes to be screwed. Nobody.

And regarding the name... There are so many places/things in Denmark that has the word "royal" in its name.. like Hotel Royal in Århus, Royal Scandinavian Casino, Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters in CPH, The Royal Danish Academy of Music, the Royal League (football), and so on.
None of these really have anything to do with the Royal Family. It's just a name.. I don't consider it a "status" like it used to be.
try and go to their website and download the info brochure...That tell a lot about the court, and the projekt...and they have something on the site too...DLL_4ever said:I wonder how the "landscape" of this course will be .... (flat, bumpy/hilly, etc.) I notice a lot of the times when I see professional golf on TV they play on flat- courses.. Which is weird to me .. Courses with a lot of bumps/hills (like the Skjoldenæsholm Golfbane which i showed a few pictures of earlier) seems like a more professional/more difficult course than one thats completely flat..
because it is probebly the only place in copenhagen thats big enough....staff said:Hmm, I'm not a fan of golf courses squeezed in in a middle of a commercial/residential area. The course itself seem to be a killer tho. Why build it in the middle of Örestaden?
I think it would get a lot more business though if it was in the city. People are very lazy now-a-days and a lot of them don't want to drive 20km to play golf. I like the location though. It's nice for Copenhagen to have a little bit of nature around itstaff said:You mean that it is impossible to place it outsite the city? Barsebäck Golf and Country Club, probably the best golf course in northern Europe, is counted as a "Malmö course", though it is situated some 20-25 km:s outside the city.
That area is not a part of the area reserved as a part of Ørestaden. So it is actually a new thing that they are going to build anything in that spot.staff said:Hmm, I'm not a fan of golf courses squeezed in in a middle of a commercial/residential area.
