Good point, would be nice to have a consolidated South Brisbane / West End / Southbank thread instead, like the northside one?

Thanks heaps for the thread plus update asdfg been waiting ages for someone to photograph these ones! Particularly excited about fish lane, hope it gives the other developers along there the kick they need to get it going
The Vine - Looks like forming up Level 1 slab.
The Plaza - Piling machines on site.
Cheers for the thread and photos asdfg!

I'm very excited to see Fish Lane underway as well, and with Aria's Grey Street Tower activating that top corner of the lane, we should have a good catalyst for the rest of the lane in time becoming activated. It may take some time but as we saw with Burnett Lane, it does happen eventually!

Edit: speaking of Aria's Grey Street Tower, it has been approved today!
^^ I am very excited for fish laneway to be activated as well, my uni is next to the grey street tower.

Also I forgot to mention that they had the balloon up taking photo's for the grey street tower, probably 2 weeks ago :)
I'm looking to make a few updates to my original post.

Can an admin fix up this thread please? It's a bit messy at the moment e.g. my intro post is not updateable.
I compliment the Arena design on its use of materials and overall "styling". However the site abuts the backside of the Melbourne Hotel (arguably the most disgraceful building in West End) and the twin towers will only focus the street view onto this monstrosity.

The obvious omission from this design is simply green space, the aerial perspectives show woefully little green for landscaping. Especially for larger trees that might over time mask the adjoining buildings. The developer would do a great service to the area (and future buyers) by doubling the green space and planter depths. The view between the towers could end in a green oasis rather than a grey office wall.

Assuming its for the emporium south point proposal?

Anyone...?

I didn't really intend for the thread to be a non-updateable mess.
This little one at 48 Manning Street (replacing the old houses opposite Stefan's Sky Needle) was approved this week. DA A003304928.

The DA has just come through to PDOnline for a very exciting, quality project on a great site in South Brisbane. DA Number: A003488867

Developed by Sydney based Galileo, the project known as 'Arena' will see two 12 level twin towers half built on dancing poles / a cool cantilever design. The reason for this particular design is so that views of the city can be retained by the neighbouring commercial building.

- The cross block link will be retained and enhanced.

- The project features a pool, gym and recreation area, courtyards and two retail spaces.

- 191 apartments. (90 one bedrooms, 93 two bedrooms, 8 three bedrooms)

- The podium and tower elements in each building and differentiated by their materials. Brick and tile elements have been used through the podium area, anchoring the base and offering fine grained detail, appropriate to the area. The tower has been given a cleaner expression, with glass and aluminium used extensively.

Galileo are a great developer, this is their first Brisbane project. They are currently building Metro Residences in Chatswood, a huge TOD project in Sydney.
