Earthworks currently occurring on-site are for approved excavations to a depth of around 10 metres, which according to the DA is for 3 levels of residential parking. There would, subject to approval, also be 6 levels above ground for public car parking.

The site on Wednesday afternoon, with half the existing ground level car park being dug up.

Awesome! What is the status of the Cumberland site? Do we have renders? I have seen photos but don't know if they are public there are 2x150m towers and they are supposed to be underway or almost underway according to the council...is this true?

That's good news. All we had heard about the site was Dyldam were planning multiple towers of up to about 50 stories. Can't wait to see renders.
The 189 Macquarie St development has not been approved yet. Demolition and early excavation works have been approved through a separate DA, hence the start of work.

There is nothing I have seen in the planning systems about the Cumberland site. I thought it was only concept stage and still a fair way off becoming reality?
According to a council meeting last week it is advancing and the towers are 2x150m they showed images of the towers so I wonder what is going on
Dyldam website has the cumberland site as a future project:)

142 Macquarie St

The former engine room of Cumberland Press, 142 Macquarie Street holds an important place in Parramatta’s history.
Dyldam will honour that history and celebrate Parramatta’s future with a sophisticated blend of residential, commercial, retail and open spaces to create of vibrant epicentre for the community.

Apartment living will be intelligent and flexible, with unparalleled views of Parramatta River, Sydney CBD and the Blue Mountains.

The project will build upon Parramatta City Council’s “Parramatta Stories” programme, celebrating the site’s heritage.

That might be the one opposite the chemist warehouse? However I am told that area will now be home to a new Jamie Oliver restaurant opposite his existing site?
That must be the parramall site. They have owned it for years. Been waiting for this one for ages.

Yes I did sorry. Damn autocorrect.
RE: Cumberland site "Dyldam will honour that history and ..... The project will build upon Parramatta City Council’s “Parramatta Stories” programme, celebrating the site’s heritage."

Is there really anything of heritage value? Seems odd to keep those derelict warehouses. Although I can't quite figure out the orientation of that picture. Interesting that they have put hoardings up on the Macquarie street side even though we haven't seen any renders yet.
Not all that common for Dyldam to put images for future projects, or even those at early stages of construction. I like!

In reference to the Cumberland Newspaper site, the derelict warehouses in the rendering are actually the popular Albion Hotel next door. My understanding is that there would be interpretation of the former use of the site.
Ah. Thanks. So it is the Albion. So then does the picture shows the pub forecourt opening up into the development? If so that's a great idea. Will make a big plaza.
Yeah it seems they've done that. Would be particularly good! Though being under different ownership it may just end up being wishful thinking...
Just bringing this over from the Parramatta thread from February 21.

Thank you Cul, a very very good looking list!

This update on work at 189 Macquarie Street with Koi in the background, from Wednesday evening. Lots of v dry noisy piling occurring behind the hoardings:
