Proyecto de Teleférico en el Puerto de Ensenada
El objetivo del proyecto, es ofrecer un atractivo adicional al turista que visita Ensenada, ya que el teleférico será una alternativa adicional de esparcimiento a turistas de cruceros y demás visitantes que arriban por otras vías a la ciudad, además de los residentes locales. La construcción del teleférico nace del análisis de mayor oferta de infraestructura turística que requiere Ensenada.
Con la realización de este proyecto se reforzará la oferta de servicios turísticos del Puerto, en especial los del área del Malecón, sitio donde se construirá una de las 2 terminales de abordaje del teleférico (Estación 1), la cual se ubicará en la confluencia de la desembocadura del Arroyo Ensenada y el Andador Turístico; ésta contempla áreas para ascenso y descenso de pasajeros, taquilla de boletaje, baños públicos, snack, venta de souvenirs y área de estacionamiento.
La Estación 2, se encontrará ubicada en el punto mas alto del cerro Iturbide, dominando la panorámica de Ensenada, será un edificio que contemple un punto de embarque de pasajeros, taquilla de boletaje, restaurant-mirador, salón de espectáculos y convenciones, galería-museo, oficinas para alquiler y estacionamiento para autos y autobuses.
El diseño del teleférico contempla un góndola giratoria de 80 pasajeros, elevándose de 4m. a 130m., el recorrido consistirá en un viaje con una distancia de 1.2 km, a una velocidad de 7m. por segundo, estimándose ofrecer seis viajes redondos por hora, lo que representa 4,800 personas por turnos de 10 horas. Adicionalmente se requerirá la construcción de dos torres de apoyo.

Another great new is that in April, construction will begin on terminals for a cable line from the Iturbide hill to the Malecón; it will be financed by a national investment of twelve million dollars. The project, called "Ensenada Bay Tramway," is expected to receive income from the rent of space in the Port at the Malecón and the land on the hill where the terminal will be in a modern building.
The edifice will have six stories, each with 800 square meters of floor space. On the first floor are planned a museum, a cafeteria and some commercial spaces; on the second, a restaurant-bar; on the third, a social salon and a conference room or a discotheque; on the fourth, offices or a multiple use room, and on the sixth, offices. A Swiss company is now building gondolas seating fifty passengers which will depart from and return to this building. These cable cars can turn 360 degrees on their own axles so that passengers don’t need to move from their seats while making the approximately four-minute journey.
It is planned to rent the spaces in this building to businessmen who want to share in this project development.
As of now, businessmen estimate that a ticket to go on the cable line should cost about ten dollars with lower options for students, children and groups. This project will take advantage of the ever increasing number of tourists coming to Ensenada by sea and by road, and seek to give greater attention to service while visitors pass through the sky of the city.
