  • Boston and suburbs
  • Washington, D.C. and suburbs
  • Baltimore and suburbs
  • Philadelphia and South New Jersey Suburbs
  • Northern New Jersey Suburbs

Would "transportation be effiecientcy? Because if so I don't think DC would be number 2
Baltimore before Philly? I don't think so.
The DC metro is the only acceptable public transportation on this planet. It is so clean!
Baltimore before Philly? I don't think so.
Actually, the list created is just that...a list. I didn't intend on putting the cities and areas in order, this is for each forummer to do.
I'll just add from personal references and what I have read.

Boston
Washington, D.C.
Philadelphia and South New Jersey
Northern New Jersey
Pittsburgh
Long Island
Buffalo
Southwestern CT
Providence
Hartford

I don't know much about the Upstate NY cities (well the fact that Buffalo has LRT makes it on my list) and Wilmington for me to rank them. Hartford has a very disappointing PT system for such a dense city and it's location near areas with better transport.

Southwest CT (aka Fairfield County) and Providence higher than Hartford because they have commuter rail.
Albany is somewhat dissapointing... I don't they have buses on Sundays in Delaware so I guess they aren't that good.
Oh god...there are certain bus lines in Hartford that don't run on Sundays either. :eek:hno:

I think they plan on changing that, the demand for transportation on Sundays is getting too high now.
Albany is shitty...there not reliable at all there either mad early, late or never show up only a small amount run past 9pm. Alot of them dont run on saturdays or sundays and if they do its very limited. Drivers are extremely rude not calling out stops for the blind and senior citizens. If your planning on going some where u gotta leave 2 hrs before just to get there on time. Id rate Albany of the worst.
Albany is planning on changing though. They took over the Northway Express and put new coaches on it. The Saratoga Springs service has been expanded greatly. I think Schnectedy is next to get a transit overhaul. CDTA is also going to put in BRT on Route 5. Don't know how it will progress, but hopefully it gets done soon.

They should build HSR to NYC soon also. The Greyhounds and Amtraks leave every hour, and are probably running full.
I like Albany's train station...their service to NYC, Boston, Montreal, and Buffalo (as well as Chicago) is very impressive, although service doesn't seem that frequent. The bad thing about it is that it's across the river from downtown.
Wilmington, Delaware?

Wilmington's public transit system is probably a great deal better than what many people think. Some of you who are not familiar may question if Delaware has a transportation system at all. It's just a bunch of bus routes and a train line, but it works for a metro of 625,000.

Here is a link to a post from another transportation thread. It includes maps for those who are interested. Check it out.

Oh yeah, Sunday bus service in Delaware is planned to begin on June 23.
^^ That's good.

I also like the Pittsburgh Busways. When will other cities learn, Busways NOT freeways
Are the SEPTA regional lines subway lines or a commuter rails?

Commuter rail
I really hope that Albany does change, that whole thing with the 55 not coming was insane, mad people were late to work because of that. They said they had no drivers or extra buses. Its just so frustrating when you need to get some where on time and the only thing u have is the bus and its not reliable. Upstate in general really needs to work on alot of stuff mostly the general Albany area tho.
Honestly, I have not used very much public transportation outside of NYC, so it will be very hard form me to rank them.
i think wilmington's service is good enough for right now. i hope they do decide to build the monorail that would make our service even better. also i think delaware needs a commuter rail service for the whole state.
