Public Limousine Service Is Langkawi's Latest Attraction
LANGKAWI, July 12 (Bernama) -- Limousines will become the latest attraction in Langkawi and increase the quality of public transportation service in the resort island.

Chairman of the Kedah chapter of Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Pishol Ishak said 50 limousine permits were issued to the Langkawi Development, Service and Tourism Cooperative for that purpose.

So far, the public limousine service had received encouraging response, he said at the tourism product operators get-together session at the De Baron Resort here today.

Pishol said the cooperative would also increase the number of their limousines in stages.

Over 100 tourism product and rental car operators took part in the session which was launched by Langkawi Development Authority deputy general manager (I) Hanafi Ahmad.

LANGKAWI – Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi (MPL) akan menganjurkan Kempen Bandar Selamat bagi menjadikan Langkawi destinasi pelancongan yang selamat.

Yang Dipertua MPL Abdul Rahman Salleh berkata kempen dengan kerjasama Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Langkawi itu akan diadakan tidak lama lagi tetapi tarikhnya belum ditetapkan.

“Kita berharap semua pihak termasuk penduduk dan pelancong akan menyertai kempen untuk menjadikan Langkawi bandar selamat,” katanya di sini hari ini.

Beliau berkata untuk tujuan sama, MPL memasang 16 unit kamera litar tertutup (CCTV) yang dibiayai Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan di bawah Program Bandar Selamat.

Pasir Tengkorak, Pekan Padang Matsirat, Pantai Cenang, Taman CHOGM, Pantai Kok, Jeti Kuah dan pejabat MPL merupakan antara lokasi yang dipasang CCTV.

Selain MPL, Polis Langkawi turut memasang CCTV yang dibiayai Lembaga Pembangunan Langkawi (Lada). – BERNAMA

PULAU Langkawi, Kedah bakal memiliki mercu tanda terbaru apabila anak syarikat kerajaan negeri, Permodalan Kedah Berhad (PKB) merancang membina hotel 14 tingkat bertaraf tiga bintang dengan kos RM50 juta.

Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan PKB, Harun Khalib berkata, pembinaan hotel berkonsepkan halalan toiyiban di pekan Kuah dijangka siap dalam tempoh satu setengah tahun, sekali gus mampu merancakkan industri pelancongan di pulau peranginan itu.


“Hotel ini menyediakan dua kolam renang yang mengasingkan pengunjung lelaki dan wanita.

“Ia dipercayai hotel pertama di pulau pelancongan ini yang menyediakan kemudahan berkenaan.


“Kami percaya dengan pembaharuan ini, selain dapat menarik lebih ramai pengunjung dari Timur Tengah, sekali gus diharap mampu mempertingkatkan ekonomi masyarakat setempat,” katanya selepas majlis pecah tanah projek itu oleh Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak di Langkawi, Kedah.

Harun berkata, projek hotel itu yang dibiayai Affin Bank Berhad bakal menyediakan kemudahan 206 bilik, termasuk 26 suite di atas tanah seluas 0.6 hektar apabila secara tidak langsung mampu menjana industri pelancongan tempatan.

“Pertambahan kehadiran pelancong dan kemudahan tapak yang strategik di pekan Kuah mendorong PKB menerusi anak syarikat PKB Hotel Management untuk terbabit dalam industri perhotelan,” katanya.
