Do you think Israelis are too arrogant?

Question for Israeli forumers: Do you think Israelis are too arrogant?

I was talking with an American Jewish friend who was visiting Israel recently (he comes quite often) and he told me that he thinks one of Israel's biggest problems is that people here tend to be arrogant and don't respond well to constructive criticism. Do you agree with this? Yes or no?

By conducting such a poll, thous putting the Israeli crowd on a pedestal, you yourself put us all as arrogants. Ironic?
sorry, but I had tovote yes.

On the other hand if the question was; Do you think Turks are too arrogant? I would have again voted yes.

More honest than ironic.
Israel is NOT in Scandinavia. It is not Iceland surrounded by water. It is not New Zealand. Israel is where the Hamas, Hezbollah, etc terrorists and regional despots have turned the area into a rough, very rough neighborhood. It is not an easy place. Therefore, one has to learn to survive in such environment.

Simple ;)

Definition of arrogant: Russel
How do you define arrogance?
Turk gave you one example of how I define arrogance.

I loosely define arrogance as "believing that you are always right and that anyone who disagrees with you is either wrong or is in no position to voice their opinion" along with the inability to take criticism. If you've been to Israel, then chances are you might have experienced such people.

Never been to Israel (though am planning to do it someday, as well as going in the palestinian territories if possible), but know many people who did and met many israelis (and not just french jews who immigrated over there).

I see what you mean, though I think more than arrogance it translates 'insecurities' and a militaristic nationalism.

So what? Yeah, come to Somalia and pretend that you are in Herzlia Petuah, Cesaria, Kensington or Palm Beach. We will see how long you will last.

Breaking news:
You can live in Israel, be wrong and admit that you are wrong at the same time! I have also heard that it happens to most of the Israelis but it hasn't been confirmed by an official source.
People are often wrong and nothing happens if you admit that you are wrong.

One cannot help but like the Kapos.:lol: Speaking of the militaristic nationalism, ever heard of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihard, PLO, Saudi Arabian royals, the Assads of Syria, etc...etc...?

As for "insecurities", how can the French Jews be secure when the French government put the Jews on the French trains on the way to Auschwitz? How can the Jews of Maalot be secure after the 2 dozens innocent children were brutally murdered by the terrorists?

Who said this?

You know what I hate about you? It's that amid all your bombastic, chest-thumping rhetoric, you sometimes speak some sense.

What does it have to do with living in Somalia but pretending that you are in Beverly Hiills?

The fact is those who don't face the brutal reality of their neighborhood do not last and cannot last.

There is a big difference between facing the brutal reality of the Middle East and acting like a terror organization, and many Israelis often expect Israel to act like a terror organization. Luckily- Israel, unlike Somalia, has laws, and unlike in the rest of the Middle East- these laws apply to the government's actions as well. This is why Israel successes- without acting like a Western nation it would have been like the rest of the Middle East.

There is no greatest honor but to remain alive among those who want you dead. Moreover, among those who want not only you dead but also your parents and your kids dead.
you two just don't get it do you?

You think; an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. The proper way to behave is not that. You can be faced with the worst of scum, but what you don't get is that if you start acting like them then you are no different than them.

Good for them- they can want me dead, why do I care? It's not like Israel's only way to secure its southern border is to carpet-bomb Gaza.

Let's take the case around a month ago where terrorists murdered four Israeli civilians, including a pregnant woman:
Israel could blow up an entire Palestinian town as a response,
or it could act as it actually did: tracking down those who were responsible, arresting them and jail them if they are found guilty.
