Ateneo is set to establish its own Creative Hub called "The Areté." The new building, which will be constructed in the Loyola campus, will also house the much-awaited Ateneo Cordon Bleu Institute.

Nice!!
Beautiful, understated addition to the Loyola campus. (In true Ateneo fashion)

“THE ARETÉ” is the proposed name for the Ateneo Creative Hub which will soon rise in front of the Ricardo and Dr. Rosita Leong Hall.

According to University President Jose Ramon Villarin, SJ, the Areté is envisaged to be an “iconic hub” which will bring together the different disciplines to create a space for creativity and innovation.

During the ground blessing ceremony for the site on April 23, Villarin explained that the hub is named as such because it resonates with what the Greek word areté stands for: Excellence, goodness and virtue.

Ed Calma design way better imho. New design looks like a mall or BPO bldg.
It's not like that field was being used anyway. Matagal nang wala ang corn fields and that was just parking space.

(Although if they can build a multi-storey parking space somewhere, that would be great).
wait, sa dating corn fields to itatayo?

Yes. If you happen to drive along Katipunan and pass by Gate 3, you'll see a gigantic nest with eggs.

Interesting to see how traffic will turn out lalo na't doon ang main exit papuntang Katipunan especially for AHS/LS.
Does this mean that there will be two theaters of identical capacity inside the campus? That could be a first.

I see thanks. So at least madaling masisilip din pala to from Katips. If that's the final design though, Ateneo is playing safe. They should have let their imagination run wild. After all, it's supposedly a "creative hub."

Except for the Gesu, the school has been known for ho-hum buildings. But compared to, say, Leong and the new Rizal Lib, it is somewhat more experimental. From what I know, all the college buildings follow the same red-brick color scheme (even the all-concrete Faura Hall was painted brick-red!). The Arete will be the only exception.

Given the orientation of the plot of land where it will stand, baka yung cylindrical portion with the uprights lang ang masisilip mo. The facade will be in front of Leong Hall at nakatalikod sa Miriam ang building, which will make perfect sense dahil doon talaga ang daan ng mga tsikot. Siyempre, kailangang patagin ang lupa doon dahil sloping yun going to Katipunan. Although if they can find a way to make use of that slope, better.

I hate aluminum cladding.

Good move. The move will also free up space (however negligible) in the old Library building, maybe even accommodate the overcrowded University Archives.

As for the Fine Arts programs, mukhang magandang recruiting tool ito. The Fine Arts departments have moved -- from Gonzaga Hall to the old Comm building just across the covered courts and Manang's, and this move will showcase Ateneo's strength in the arts to everyone who passes by Katipunan.
any updates regarding this project???
