I allowed a lot of time to pass since my last photo thread, specifically because I didn't want to bore you. But I feel so bored, myself, that I see no reason why I must remain selfish... Let me share some of my boredom with you. Off to Part 2 of my Nikon D200 series.

Since skylines are mostly the identifying aspect of a city, let me begin with an "accident". Being clueless sometimes produces wonderful results, like the first photo of this tour. The original shot will be shown later.

Office, sweet office!!!

Up in smoke!!!

Historic presence in the heart of the city.

Public art.

You have a choice between old news...

... and recycled news.

Let's annoy a few people...

Yes, the green leaves - right bottom - were flying around, like a green tornado.

Trying to make a living.

R2-D2 on Fayetteville Str

Do you recall this?

I love how the reflection of 333 Corporate Plaza on Two Progress Plaza lines up with One Progress Plaza. It looks almost as if the second tower is transparent.

Thanks for visiting. Part III will probably be 1-2 months away.

Wonderful set of photos, Penguin. Your city sure has changed since I was an escort at a debutant ball waaaay back in the 1950's. A bunch of us out-of-town stags were put up at the Sir Walter Raleigh Hotel, and I believe at the time it was the largest building in town. I think the ball was at a country club.

I guess the Research Triangle was the beginning of the transformation to big city.

Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks, everyone. I am trying to improve my photography a little, even though I am a long way from making Raleigh look nice - I left this task to Flash ;) Hopefully, I will begin to see more and more opportunities for better photos.

cityboi, a 40-story tower - or even taller - would have been ideal. The place to build such a tower would probably be the block where the News & Observer is today. There is a possibility for redevelopment of that block, but I don't expect anything for at least 5-6 more years, if not more. When that time comes, we'll be [hopefully] discussing 50-60 story buildings ;) Realistically, the western part of the skyline (to the right of the photo) is where you will see amazing results in 2-3 years, with about 5 towers (from 15-27 floors) adding significant density and height. In 2 years we'll revisit this photo ;)

Raleigh-NC, those are great pics of Raleigh :)
Lots of people walking around the city.
I should get over to Raleigh soon......have not been in months.
It's amazing how fast the city is growing and building!
