Rapid Lady Bus for the fairer sex

KUALA LUMPUR: RapidKL Bus has introduced the Rapid Lady Bus service that will provide services exclusive to women during peak hours on selected routes.

RapidKL Bus chief operating officer Datuk Mohamed Hazlan Moha*med Hussain said the special bus service is intended to provide more comfort and security to women while protecting them from sexual harassment and incidences of space jostling in congested confines of the bus during peak hours.

“This is based on the feedback received from our customers, especially women, who shared their experiences of traveling during peak hours,” Hazlan said.

No men allowed: The new ‘women-only’ RapidKL special bus services aim to provide comfort and security to female passengers.

A “women only” icon will be displayed on parts of the bus including the LED screens to differentiate it from other buses.

The trial run is being conducted with additional buses on seven routes with high passenger volumes.

The Rapid Lady Bus services are available daily in the mornings from 6.45am to 7.30am and evenings from 6pm to 6.45pm.

The morning routes cover the areas of Pinggiran Batu Caves, Daman*sara Damai, Sri Nilam, Terminal Kajang, Puchong Utama, UiTM Shah Alam and Subang Suria.

The evening routes cover the Medan Pasar, Jalan Hang Lekiu and Pasar Seni areas.

'fairer sex' means…if there's a woman only-bus, there should be a man only-bus! :D

PAC investigation inconclusive, Prasarana selling the buses for scrap, and no-one connected to Pak Lah or MTrans need worry.

just why? are they really cannot be used? or …why?
just why? are they really cannot be used? or …why?
They cannot be used anymore after rotting in the graveyard for so many years. I imagine that most of the buses have already been stripped for parts anyways.

in Singapore some old buses still be used. they only install aircon and some refurbishments. those rapid KL buses doesn't look old at all! and they abandon it?

oh our money….:sleepy:

did you notice the part where I said that they would not ask too many questions of Pak Lah and MTrans?

I do not think it is a coincidence that all RapidKL buses purchased between 2005-2008 were made by MTrans/Scomi bus, and a majority of buses assembled in this country are assembled in Pekan.

5 years of City Shuttle Service

I was thinking today, that the City Shuttle service was introduced on 16 January 2006.

That means that the service is 5 years old (+ a few days).

In that time, can we say that public transport in KL has changed for the better?
Or shall we hope for improvements in the next 5 years instead?

except for the jammed jln ampang..services are great between ampang point to klcc..with less than 5minutes interval

however those other busses to wangsa maju, pandan n dato keramat..don't show up according to their 20minits promises..even the uia-terminal gombak still suck..in my expiriences most likely he bus will show up after a 45minits wait n the bus is sardin pack already

oh,n the ticket is really expensive..it cost me the same price for ticket or petrol to drive to work + i dont have to wake up early to wait 40minit + i dont have to stand all the way + naik bus kurang2 sejam lebih bru sampai, naik keter 30minit..

so xder benefit pon naik bus, mnyusahkan ajer

good points.

As for the cost being the same as driving, you have to factor in the sunk cost of car ownership + maintenance - at least RM500 per month I suppose.

most problems of public buses are not from RapidKL. but other private companies like Metrobus, Leng Seng, Selangor etc….

why can't they have schedule and their own route instead competing each other?
good points.

RapidKL must use Electronic board and display arrival time in minutes for each single bus ! This is what we call "World-class" !!

they can do that, and it is good to have the information.

Unfortunately, if nothing is done about the congestion, what is the point of spending money on the GPS and the boards?

I do not care to sit for 10-30 minutes watching a board that says my bus is coming in "under 2 minutes"

More needs to be done in improving bus on-time performance. For example, bottleneck on roads on which the bus traffic is shared with general road traffic. To improve reliability, you need bus lane and of course, and as always.....enforcement of bus lanes.
good points.

unfortunately in malaysia, even if u use PT, u still had to have a car ..

so that why the cost of car ownership (monthly pymt) are not counted (sunk cost)

the fuel price is already the same as ticket prices

so that leave the added maintainance because of the extra miles use, which to me,is a fair price to pay for the added benefit of comfort and speed..

but my office is in sentul lah..if it were in KL golden triangle than rapid busses is the way to go:lol:

Hhaha honestly, the MRT is probably going through TTDI along Jalan Damansara despite the objections of some residents.

Because, frankly I just do not think that the Damansara Uptown's developer is going to be able to pay for the MRT to go via Damansara Uptown.

I just sent a letter on this topic to the newspapers, look for it to appear in a day or two.
