I can't agree with you more. I was there at that time and hated it. I thought it was a disgrace to the majestic city, environment and population in the region.

I'm sorry you may be right about this, as I haven't been to the city this year, and I had no idea that they repeated this stunt again, I was there last summer so I got confused!
But in Summer 2006, it wasn't just a weekend because I was was there in the weekdays only.

Furthermore, I don't agree it's comparable with F1 races, because I don't take this 'event' seriously, for me this is nothing more then a smart publicity stunt for RedBull, it has no historical importance or prestige whatsoever. On the other hand, the (prestigious) F1 races are being held in Pendik, at least 1 hour away by train from the historical city, where there's already an airport closeby.
