I propose merging the two, but break up the subforum into theme sections to facilitate browsing. Currently posts of many different themes are all over the place and it's hard to search for specific items, such as construction projects or other civic issues.

I propose to create these subsections :

City Images & Architecture
Transportation & Economy
Projects & Developments

Macau in the next several years is going to emerge and we may see it out-shine Hong Kong.

Personally, I've lost interest in Hong Kong basically because of the bad way they handled the 1997 turnover. They wanted to play politics by over-dramatizing the post-mainland handover that they literally shot themselves in the foot by making HK look like it was going to be another Tiananmen Square. People started to take their money out of HK and scared-off investment. On top of that... bad timing with the Asian Financial Crisis. Their tabloidish nightmare scenario never came close to happening. Bad move Hong Kong!

Today, their recovery has been limpimg along especially when it comes to identity. International corporations are moving their Asia headquarters to Shanghai and with the redevelopement of Macau as an international destination, HK seems to invisible these days.

So if the two threads merge, you later on might have to divide them again. Macau looks to be exciting in the near future.

Actually, I disagree with you. Macau is emerging as a gambling destination, whereas Hong Kong is an international financial and transportation centre. There are more companies with regional headquarters in Hong Kong now than before the handover and even during the boomtimes leading up to the handover. Shanghai is still significantly behind in Hong kong due to capital controls and a less transparent judiciary.

In fact, Hong Kong's economy is roaring ahead with over 8% growth in the last quarter.

The mood has significantly changed since the handover and the financial crisis. The economy is booming. There are a lot of Chinese tourists visiting Hong Kong nowadays, and many mainland companies are launching IPOs in Hong Kong to raise their international profile. Meanwhile, foreign multinationals are still setting up significant operations in Hong Kong to enter China. The fact is, in the past foreigners would use Hong Kong to enter China. Now the Chinese are using Hong Kong as well to venture abroad.

I don't have a problem of putting Macau under the HK forums. Anyway, there's not much being discussed about Macau.

Suggestions to Improve the Forum

Any suggestions or comments to make this forum become better, since we now have ten pages of threads and i think its time to do something to make this Macau forum becomes more attractive and organised.

So here's the following sections i would like to be added,

1) ArchiMAC - this section will divide into 3 different parts
Projects and Constructions - new projects coming up in macau, once the buildings completed, the thread will be remove to completed buildings section.

Completed Buildings - with discussions threads on famous buildings in macau, it can be any buildings from high-rise to low rise

Historical Buildings - a place to discuss all the historical and attraction sites in macau

2) Casino City - covers all the stuff related to casinos or gambling stuff

3) iMAC - this section will covers all the news from macau

4) Macau Street - a place to chat anything you like

this is just my thought, if anyone has a better idea please contribute it here to us, thx !!

Good morning Macau!

I agree with your opinion mate. 4 sections is more than enough. You can also join the last 2.

First and foremost, are any of us in position to make change here?

I agree with Senhor Portugues that 3) and 4) can be combined and it can be the main forum. 1) and 2) will be the sub forums. Question about 1) though: Who is going to regularly move the threads around between new projects and completed projects? I guess a normal moderator wouldn't do that for us.

I have one suggestion, can we somehow add a direct Macau forum link in the front page? Right now we have:

Asian Skyscraper Forums
» Japan | Chinese Mainland / Hong Kong/ Taiwan | Korea | Malaysia | Philippines | Thai | Singapore | Indonesia | India | Pakistan | Vietnam | Sri Lanka

Can we do this?

Asian Skyscraper Forums
» Japan | Chinese Mainland / Hong Kong/ Macau/ Taiwan | Korea | Malaysia | Philippines | Thai | Singapore | Indonesia | India | Pakistan | Vietnam | Sri Lanka

I have seen this discussion in this forum before but there is no follow up on that yet?

I have one question too. How come the Macau forum is a sub forum of the Hong Kong forum? I can see why it can be a sub forum of the mainland forum but I don't get it why it is in the Hong Kong forum. It is just geographically and politically wrong.

Macau forum seems not have "quorum" enough at the moment to appear in the front page. As our HK friends are helping us to boost our room, someone included us in HK! Thats quite unfair but I understand why!
I guess we need some more fellows from Macau to help rising this discussion room.

thanks for the comment, yea, 4 sections are more than enough coz we only have a few active forumers (not even more than 4, i think) :D, so its better to reduce it to 3 sections instead. I will join the last two together, so which one do u think its better, iMACAU or Macau Street, or any other name you would like?

yea, we need someone to be in charge of this forum first, so do u want to be in charge of this forum :), its not a very difficult job anyway and only requires you to check this forum once or twice a week (minimum time), if you want i can ask the administrator to change your status,

about moving the threads of new and completed projects, i dont think it will take you that much of time coz many of these projects will be completed in a few years time, macau is only a small place anyway :),

ok, i will ask one of the website administrators to add a direct macau forum link and seperate the Macau forum from Hong Kong one, thanks !!

thats why we have to encourage more people to visit this forum :), or you can ask your friends to join this forum, lolz

im now thinking of creating more threads relating to many different areas (things like dining, shopping, sports etc other than skyscrapers) after divide out the sections, this is probably one way to boost more people to visit this macau forum, and we defintely need to have a direct link on the front page so people from the other parts of the skyscrapercity forum know 'there is a macau forum exist' :)

I would prefer "Rua de Macau" or "Ao mun guide" but iMacau is quite good ;)

That's true. We need to encourage more people to visit this forum.

Didn't know you have such authority or friendship with the admin. As much as I love Macau, I don't mind doing that and continuing my contribution to the Macau forum. Let's do it:)

iMacau has quite an IT feel. I like it since I like IT stuff. But for this forum I think we may use:

Macau Street (Rua de Macau, 澳門街)

Just want to extend the chinese and portuguese tradition to this forum
