metrocards are very sensitive, it all has to do with how you bend a specific part of the card.

Its a thin plastic card with a magnetic strip that is used as a fare card. You put money on the card, and swipe it at the turnstiles. Its the only fare method on the NYC subway. It can also be used on NYC buses, the PATH subway, and certain other transit systems.
