It's only a highway between Fnideq (Bab Sebta) and Tétouan (28km). Between Port Tanger Med and Fnideq they will enlarge the road to an expressway ...Huh! ik thought the rocade mediterranee was a highway on the pics i only see national roads?
I think to improve the economic development in this region it's also very important to connect Fès with Al Hoceima and Tétouan. The latter one is more important, becaus a good connection between a city of a million inhabitants, Fès, and the Tangier Mediterranean Port lacks ...Thats a great infrastructural realization. The region really needs it, similarly I imagine that it must have cost very expensive since the whole region is very mountainous.
The view during the travel must be amazing. That is assuming there is view of the Mediterranean ocean all throughout.
@D K: You are not entirely right. You have only seen pictures of the part of the rocade that has been finished yet, Saidia - Al Hoceima. This part of the mediterranean shore is far drier than th e shore between Tetouan and Al Hoceima. This part is still under construction, so There are no pictures available, only of the old road. This is one of the most green parts of Morocco. I you take a look to the Spanish Costa del Sol than you'll realise that this part has its counterpart on the Spanish shore roughly between Algeciras and Malaga, which is also far more green than for example Malaga - Almeria which is semi desertic, caused by the less rainfall due to the distance from the atlantic ocean.
