This is a blast from the past. I remember the proposal but don't think a thread was ever set up. Not much different from the original design except the recess on the windows and the roof has increased slightly.

Developer: Beech Holdings

Architect: Beech Design & Build

120113/FO/2018 | Erection of a seven storey apart-hotel (use class C1), comprising 59 rooms on the upper floors, with reception area and bar/restaurant (use class A3/A4) on the ground floor. | 1 Alpha Place Manchester M15 4PP

Would have preferred something on a larger scale on this site to connect the skyline.

The car park along Commercial Street would make a decent tall building. Would help connect Deansgate Square to Beetham, Viadux, Whitworth, and whatever materialises on the Little Peter Street plot. Nothing massive, 120m perhaps.

It is right on Simpson Haugh's door step too!

So Beech are branching out to apart-hotels now? Good for them. What an excellent company. I'd put them on a par with Renaker/Allied London/DeTrafford
Really? That's a bit of a stretch! Beech have never built a thing. They're a PDR developer specialising in micro studio apartments. They bought the Deansgate South site and never did anything with it and they're touting around their site in New Cross. This one actually sounds like it might happen though if an end user is already signed up.

Had a feeling this might start soon as planning is coming to an end. Room2 could still be opening as Manchester is listed as a “coming soon” location.

Construction management plan and archaeological dig submitted. Going to be busy round that small area with 1 Commercial Street starting.
