Roxas City hosts first medical tourism facility in W. Visayas
ROXAS CITY, Capiz, March 15 – A "Health Centrum," a medical tourism facility will rise in this city, courtesy of local private investors with several doctors coming from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
This was disclosed by Gov. Victor Tanco who expressed optimism over the benefits the P600-million project will be bringing in to Capiznons.
Tanco said the facility is similar to that of St. Luke’s Hospital where the patients will not feel that they are inside the hospital instead they would experience the feeling of being inside a hotel.
The facility has a restaurant, sports facilities and other wellness equipment and will cater to senior citizens, retirees, among others.
He added that being the first in Western Visayas, the facility will again boost the position of the region as a tourism hub. Visitors from adjacent Boracay Island may opt to take a side visit to the place should they wanted to.
“Tourists will be coming here not only to enjoy the place but also get well,” he said.
The construction of the project is presently going on and once completed, Tanco looked forward to plenty of job opportunities from health personnel up to market vendors, tricycle drivers among others.
It will also usher in a more vibrant economy for the province of Capiz. (PNA)
