I recently saw some construction activities next to KCA University along Thika Superhighway. The foundation has been excavated and concrete works have began in earnest.

So today, I decided to take a photo of the Contract sign board and post here to start this thread. I have no info. on the number of stories the complex will have but it is apparent that they could be more than 10. Here below is a mention of the complex in ICPAK 2011 annual report and finacial statements and the contract board. Interestingly, the contractor is China Jiangxi International Kenya Limited.

Accountants' New Office Block Now At 9th Floor Along Thika Road

This upcoming project is slowly dominating the skies along the new Thika Road. ICPAK aims at providing executive office space with ample parking and embrace modern concepts of green architecture including solar energy, natural ventilation and lighting

- View of the office block from the ground floor. The structure will rise to 12 Floors.

With the recent completion of Thika Road close to a year ago, investors and local partnerships have descended on the opportunities available to set up infrastructure all lined up to benefit from the highway. The travel time along the highway has been cut by 70% resulting to opening up of areas which were once silent to development.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK) which has its headquarters along Thika Road, embarked on a KShs. 1.3 Billion project that was to see the setting up of a complex having a 12-Floor Office tower, conference facility and serviced apartments. This project will sit on a 2.1 acre plot at KCA, 7 kilometres from the CBD.

- Workers busy at the 9th Floor. The contractor has a large local workforce.

- Once the office block is complete, one of the noteable tenants will be banks who have yet to make an impact along Thika Road.

- Wonderful view of Thika Road from the 9th Floor. This highway cost KShs. 32 Billion.

Currently the office tower is under construction and the works have reached the 9th floor. The contract was awarded to China Jianxi (K) International, a Chinese company. The rise to the 12th Floor has been smooth with the contractor citing good relations with the workers and use of advanced methods as a result. However the bulk of the work will be the interior works which will commence once the shell of the structure is complete.

China Jiang Xi Kenya International was recently awarded the contract for the Hazina Trade Center which was commissioned last week. With that move, the Chinese are making their mark in the local construction industry throwing the locally incorporated contractors in jitters.

Modern Office Block Along Thika Road Now At 12th Floor:cheers:

The 12-floor office block now stands tall as roof works commence. It is located on a 2.1 acre plot along Thika Road.

- The ICPAK Office Block: It will provide high end office space for corporations moving to Thika Road.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants office block along Thika Road is the region's new landmark. The structure has now complete 12 floors with the roofing works underway. A plan to have a semi-complete roof will be implemented. Much of the 'shell' is complete and the contractor will commence with the interior finishing. The contract was awarded to China JiangXi, a Chinese construction company based in JiangXi Province, China.

- Basement: The facility features a spacious basement parking which is easily accessible.

The KSh 1.3 billion project comprises an ultra modern 12 storey office block, conference facility and serviced apartments. It is located on a 2.1 acre plot along the newly constructed Nairobi-Thika Highway, approximately 7 km due north east from Nairobi Town Centre.

- Much of the 'shell' is complete and the contractor will commence with the interior finishing.

- View from the 12th Floor: The location offers easy accessibility and connectivity to the CBD.

- The rise in height of the buiding is a clear indication that Thika Road is opening up the less developed areas of Nairobi.

It is located approximately 15 km due south west from the junction of Nairobi-Thika Highway and the Eastern Bypass at Ruiru area. The property is located in a prime area being surrounded by KCA University, KCB Sports Club, Stima Sports Club and Kenya Utalii College Sports Club. The location offers easy accessibility and connectivity to the CBD, the main international airport and the Rift Valley tourist circuits.

ICPAK to Build Residential Houses On Thika Road

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya will commence the second phase of the CPA Centre in December, adding hostels and apartments to its portfolio.

ICPAK said demand for residential space on Thika superhighway has increased necessitating such a project. The Sh450 million development is located within KCA University.

"We will demolish the facility that we have rented to Standard Chartered Bank in order to pave way for construction of phase two which includes hostels and apartments," said Benson Okundi, the ICPAK chairman.

"We are targeting students or anybody else who would want accommodation."

Okundi said the first phase of the project, a 12-storey office complex, will be completed in September. Its construction will have gobbled up Sh950 million.

"We started this project in order to enhance ICPAK revenues, to host practising accountants, and to supply a high demand for office space. We are expecting 100 per cent occupancy during the first three months of commissioning the office complex," he said.

Construction of CPA Centre started in May last year but cash flow issues have delayed its completion by four months as it was expected to be completed last month.

"We are implementing the project using internal funds which has affected our cash flow," Okundi said.

The residential units are meant for letting to either students or others will to take up tenancy in the building. Many people who work in Nairobi and business districts in the periphery such as Westlands, Upper Hill and Parklands are preferring to rent houses on Thika Road due to improved accessibility after the road was expanded to eight lanes.
