Three domestic airports in Central and Eastern Visayas are among the airports considered for operations of night flights, which is a new policy ordered by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
These airports are the domestic airport of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, Tagbilaran City in Bohol, and
Roxas City in Capiz.
Aside from the country's international airports, these three domestic airports have been upgraded for night-landing capability.
The CAAP order for operation of night flights was done to help promote tourism and improve connectivity within the country.
"I have ordered all the airports that are capable for night flights to operate immediately, to help promote tourism in the country. Tourists can now have their connecting flights at their choice of destination even during night time," CAAP Director General Alfonso Cusi said in a statement issued Monday afternoon.
"All our efforts are in close consultation with all airlines, especially on the traffic and demand of flights on which airports needed to be opened 24 hours," Cusi said.
The other domestic airports with upgraded night-landing capability are Butuan, Legaspi, Cotabato, Dipolog, Tuguegarao, Naga, and Virac.
Cusi has been meeting with all airports and area managers since he assumed office. The night flights operations is part of the new policy directions that the CAAP has been implementing to enhance and professionalize the aviation industry in the Philippines.
