I was in Sao Paulo a few weeks ago. My first trip to Brasil. I LOVE the city...Great people great food great skyscrapers and an UNBELIEVABLE skyline...

The only thing I did not like was how the favelas (slums) are located outside the city and the rich live inside. The class segregation was really alarming. But still a great city!

Brazil hosts the largest Japanese community outside Japan and also has the biggest African diaspora than any other country outside Africa.
That's inaccurate. Only 6,3% are Black according to the latest IBGE figures (2005). The Pardos (mixed-people) are 43,2% of population, but they are rather White and Indian then Black.

By the way, great photos Tchello (as usual)! :) I love São Paulo City Centre, specially the Financial District.

I'm glad you liked São Paulo! :)

But, if I didn't misunderstood you, I think you are absolutely wrong about the slums, there are hundreds of them inside the city, even near the rich neighborhoods!

The figure about being home to the biggest number of african descendents is not false! There were over 8 million salves brought in the colonial times.

8 million in 400 hundred years, not a bigger figure at all.

If you say African-Brazilians is pardos (43,2%) + negros (6,3%), the European-Brazilians could be also brancos (49,9%) + pardos (43,2%). Among the so-called pardos there are more European and Indian ancestry than African one.
