Portage Park? Safest? You sure?
Well, I would nominate Sauganaush.

Find out where the cops live. Every big city usually has one "cop neighborhood," and it's a sure bet that is the safest.chikid said:What is the safest neighborhood in Chicago? Is there a website where I can see the all the crimes committed in each neighborhood. I'm sure its in a neighborhood like Portage Park, where absolutely nothing happens.
You can search it by zip code, address, intersecting streets, or schools.chikid said:Is there a website where I can see the all the crimes committed in each neighborhood.
We have several, and they are safe, but not the safest IMHO. We cannot afford the safety that money can buy-not on our salaries. We tend to cluster in the safe 'hoods that are quietest and relatively affordable.Sam_Harmon said:Find out where the cops live. Thanks for clarifying that. What you say makes sense.CPD said:We have several, and they are safe, but not the safest IMHO. We cannot afford the safety that money can buy-not on our salaries. We tend to cluster in the safe 'hoods that are quietest and relatively affordable.
I agree. Many people in Clearing do not send their kids to the local Public schools, but only partially because of the violence and quality. Most cops in Clearing tend to be White and Latino and overwhelmingly Catholic. Add to that the fact that St. Laurence/Queen of Peace, Brother Rice/Mother McCauley, Marist and St. Rita high schools are so close by to both Clearing and Mt. Greenwood and you see why so few of these people send their kids to public schools.NearNorthGuy said:One quirk about the Chicago Public Schools is demonstrated in Clearing. The people whom I know who live in Clearing would not send their kids to Kennedy High School, the local school. That is because CPS sends a lot of kids to Kennedy who are lower-income kids from far away.
Thus, you might have seen the TV news stories last week about four of these lower-income kids viciously beating an unfortunate Kennedy honor student, a student who actually lived right there in Clearing. He can't go to the high school in his neighborhood without being beaten.
from this website I see there are no crimes in Bridgeport beside the NE corner that is bordering Chinatown.Chi649 said:This site is searchable by different categories and has an interactive map.
